⃗ , whose magnitude and direction are

1. Find the components 𝐴𝑥 and 𝐴𝑦 for the vector 𝐀

given by 𝐴 = 3.5 m and 𝜃 = 66 , respectively.
2. Find 𝐵 and 𝜃 for the vector ⃗𝐁
⃗ with components 𝐵𝑥 = 75.5 m and 𝐵𝑦 = −6.20 m.
3. Given that 𝐴 = 2𝑖̂ + 3𝑗̂, find the unit vector in the direction of 𝐴.
4. Given that 𝐹 = 3𝑖̂ + 6𝑗̂ + 3𝑘̂, find the unit vector in the direction of 𝐹 .
5. Three vectors are oriented as shown in the figure below, where 𝐴 = 10, 𝐵 = 20, and 𝐶 =
15 units. Find: (a) the 𝑥 and 𝑦 components of the resultant vector 𝐷 ⃗ =𝐴+𝐵 ⃗ + 𝐶 , (b) the
magnitude and direction of the resultant vector.

6. Two vectors are given by 𝐴 = 2i + 3j and 𝐵 ⃗ = 4i − 3j. Find: (a) the magnitude and
direction of the vector sum 𝑅⃗ = 𝐴 + 𝐵
⃗ , (b) the magnitude and direction of the vector
difference 𝑆 = 𝐴 − 𝐵 ⃗.
7. Two vectors are given by 𝐴 = −i + j + 4k ⃗ and 𝐵⃗ = 3i − 4j + ⃗k. Find:
(a) 𝐴 + 𝐵⃗
(b) 𝐴 − 𝐵⃗,
(c) a vector 𝐶 such that 𝐴 + 𝐵⃗ + 𝐶 = 0.
8. The sum of two vectors is (5i − 2j) and the difference is (3i + 4j). Find the two vectors.
9. Find the value of 𝜆 so that 𝐴 = 2𝑙 + 𝜆𝑗 − 𝑘 ⃗ and 𝐵⃗ = 4𝑙 − 2𝑗 + 2𝑘 ⃗ are perpendicular to
each other.
10. Find the value of 𝜆 so that 𝐴 = 2𝑙 + 𝜆𝑗 − 𝑘⃗ and 𝐵⃗ = 4𝑙 − 2𝑗 + 2𝑘 ⃗ are parallel to each
other.
