Simple Distillation Experiment

Objective: To separate mixtures by simple distillation

Problem: How can we separate water from a sodium chloride solution?
Hypothesis:

Equipment:

1. Distilling flask
2. Stand
3. Sodium chloride solution,
4. A set of alcohol burner,
5. Rubber stopper, Condenser,
6. A glass adapter,
7. Receiving flask

Instructions:
1. Setup the apparatus as shown in the diagram
2. Pour 10cm3 of a sodium chloride solution into a beaker and connect it with condenser
3. Heat the sodium chloride solution until it almost dries
4. Observe and record any changes
