Method Statement for Installation of Water Pumps
EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION:
 Pumps with motors smaller than 11 kW can be installed in horizontal or vertical pipework (Fig. 15).
Pumps with motors of 11 kW and up may only be installed in horizontal pipes with the motor in
vertical position (Fig. 16).
 The motor must never point downwards. Install the pumps in such a way that strain from the pipe work
is not transferred to the pump housing. Pumps with motors smaller than 11 kW may be suspended
direct in the pipes, provided the pipework can support the pump. If not, install the pump on amounting
bracket or base plate. Pumps with motors of 11 kW and up may only be installed in horizontal pipes
with the motor placed in vertical position. Sump Pump Installation
• Always install the pump on an even and rigid foundation.
• Place the pump in such a way that sufficient cooling is
ensured. Make sure that the temperature of the cooling air does not exceed +50 °C. Keep the
motor cooling fins, holes in fan cover and fan blades clean. Make sure the frequency for the
motor is at least 6Hz (12 % of maximum speed).
 Condensation cover for TPE pumps. When installing TPE pumps outdoors, provide the motor with a
suitable cover to
avoid condensation on the electronic components and to protect the pump and motor against
the direct effects of the elements. When mounting the condensation cover on top of the motor,
make sure to leave enough space for the air to cool the motor. Sump Pump Installation
 The nominal flangediameter away from the pump on the suction as well as on the discharge side. This
will prevent the development of turbulence in the expansion joints, resulting in better suction
conditions and a minimum pressure loss on the pressure side.
 Before installation, all locations, elevationsand orientations of the equipment foundations and support
structures shall be checked and verified in accordance with installation drawings and specifications.
 Anchor bolts shall be plumb and placed as per approved drawings.
 Plate inserts shall be placed as specified in installation drawings.
 Data lines of levels and/or axis shall be marked/ painted on the foundation.
 Where necessary, rigging studies shall be made prior to installation/erection of equipment. Sump Pump
Installation
 The levelling shall be measured in the direction of the shaft at right angles to the shaft.
 Adjustments shall be made by removing and inserting liners and wedges. Jack bolts shall be used when
specified.
 The maximum out-of-level tolerance shall be within specified limits.
 After completion, nuts and locknuts (if required) of the anchor bolts shall be tightened.
 After completion of levelling and release, grouting for the baseplates shall be done. The
 Top surface of the foundation shall be cleaned; all foreign matter shall be removed by suitable means.
 Carry out static checks on electrical wiring settings of all control and safety devices to ensure
