Introduction

In today's digital age, cybersecurity has become a critical concern for individuals,
organizations, and governments worldwide. With the increasing reliance on technology and the
growing sophistication of cyber threats, it is essential to assess the knowledge and practices of
individuals, particularly students, in protecting themselves and their digital assets. This study
focuses on Grade 11 ICT students at Perpetual Help College of Manila, aiming to provide a
comprehensive understanding of their cybersecurity knowledge and practices.

Digital attacks are growing more frequent. Cyber dangers come in many forms, including
attacks that use domain name system poisoning, cryptojacking, and backdoors. The usual
motives of these cyberattacks are to extort money from users, obtain access to, alter, or
eliminate sensitive data, or disrupt with regular corporate operations. In the modern era,
"Cybersecurity" refers to more than just a catchphrase; it is the first line of defense against a
constantly changing spectrum of digital weaknesses. The purpose of cybersecurity is to prevent
evil-intentioned attacks by hackers, spammers, and cybercriminals against internet-connected
devices and services. It involves putting policies and procedures in place to protect IT support
while ensuring the confidentiality, accessibility, and integrity of data.

According to a report by RiskBased Security, it is revealed that in the first nine months of
2019 alone, 7.9 billion records have been exposed by data breaches. This shows that the
number of records exposed in the same period in 2018 increased (112%). The phrase
"cybersecurity" first appeared about a decade ago, when the internet began to change like other
forms of media. According to the data that is collected by Vanson Bourne, a McAfee and CSIS
report claims that cybercrime costs the global economy more than $1 trillion annually. Attackers
could also be motivated by social, ethical, or political motives. Cyberattacks is more likely to cost
organizations billions of pounds and lots of damage. Affected companies could lose confidential
information, incurring penalties, and suffering harm to their public impression.
