- Limits to confidentiality (exceptions to rules) If someone says that they will harm themselves the
psychologist can contact a family member, in immediate cases contacting authorities like 911 or
police. Sexual abuse by health professional. Knowledge of child abuse. Kids who are under 16
should have parents’ consent and parents can see the files. Deciding with the parents what the
psychologist will disclose or not.
