generation takes over. However, can the new generation take
over a world and landscape that resembles ashes and ruin? A
world that, in most parts, is cemented with values that contradict
their entire ideals.

Through this overarching theme, we present to you: the most


meticulously curated and pressing discussions. Engagements
revolving around the clash between the old order and new
aspirations, deliberations on whether to endorse or reject the
values this generation seeks to instill.

Opening Remarks by our
Secretary General

JOINMUN 2023 4
MUN: Model United Nations, commonly known as Model UN or MUN,
is an extracurricular activity in which students pose as UN delegates
and emulate UN committee meetings striving to address real-world
problems using their given the actor's policies and viewpoints. This
activity occurs during MUN conferences, which are often held in middle
school, high school, or varsity levels organized by MUN groups. Most
conferences acknowledge and offer certificates to exceptional delegates
in each committee at the end of the conference; nevertheless, the Best
Delegate in each committee receives a gavel. The simulation of the
United Nations necessitates a wide range of abilities and continuous
practices in several skills, such as extensive and in-depth researching,
public speaking, writing skills, as well as critical thinking, collaboration,
negotiation, and leadership ability.

UGM MUN Community: The UGM MUN Community is a Model United


Nations community in Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) established on
17th of September 2008. Today, the UGM MUN Community is under the
supportive harbourage of UGM. Until today, this distinguished
community has assisted more than 800 students from 10 different
faculties of the university. Not only that, the UGM MUN Community
also sends more than 5 delegations to participate in various prominent
and prestigious international Model United Nations conferences every
year, including the oldest and the most respected Harvard National
Model United Nations (HNMUN), Harvard WorldMUN (HWMUN),
Asia-Pacific MUN (AMUNC), Beijing MUN (BMUN), Korea MUN
(KMUN), Victoria MUN (VIMUN), Singapore International MUN
(SMUN), Berlin MUN, Nanyang Technological University MUN
(NTUMUN), and Hong Kong joint Institutions MUN (HKJIMUN).

JOINMUN 2023 RULES & REGULATIONS

1. Delegates are obligated to attend the Opening Ceremony from the beginning to the
end. The ceremony will be held in the hotel’s ballroom.
2. Delegates must arrive at the hotel ballroom punctually. The ceremony will begin at
16.00 WIB and the gate will open at 15.30 WIB.
3. Delegates must wear their ID card and attire according to the dress code of the
Opening Ceremony, formal berkain (berkain translation: an act of wearing
Indonesia’s traditional cloth). The dress code picture reference can be seen on the
dress code section of the handbook.
4. Delegates are not allowed to make loud noises during the event, whether through
verbal conversation or other devices. Any person found to be in violation of this rule
will be warned for not staying silent by the committee or will be asked to leave the
venue.
5. Delegates are not permitted to exit the venue during the event except for religious,
excretion, health, and/or emergency purposes. The leaving must be informed to the
nearest committee, mainly from the Delegates Relations division.
6. No one is permitted to smoke or light a fire inside the venue. Any person found to be
in violation of this rule will have their lighter/cigarette/vape/etc. confiscated by the
committee and/or will be asked to leave the venue.
7. The use of any device to live stream is prohibited. If delegates are willing to share the
full activity of the event, they may share the official JOINMUN live stream link that
will be held through YouTube.
8. Posting the event activities on social media is strongly encouraged. Delegates may
tag/mention JOINMUN’s social media account. The list of JOINMUN social media
can be seen below.

found to be in violation of this rule will be asked to leave the event.
11. Please immediately raise any issues or concerns regarding the event code of conduct
to the nearest committee and/or at the registration desk.

1. Delegates are obligated to attend the Committee Session from the beginning to the
end. The Committee Session will be held in the hotel’s ballroom and meeting rooms.

reference.)

2. Delegates must arrive at the venue punctually. It is recommended that the delegates
arrive 15 minutes prior to the event for registration necessities.
3. Delegates must wear their ID card and attire according to the dress code of the
Committee Session, business formal. The dress code picture reference can be seen on
the dress code section of the handbook.
4. Delegates’ companions (parents, school advisors, college advisors, etc.) are not allowed
to enter the venue. It is non-negotiable for delegates to attend the Committee Session
individually.
5. Delegates are not allowed to make a loud noise during the event beyond the needs of
the event, both through conversation or other devices. Any person found to be in
violation of this rule will be reprimanded for staying silent by the committee or will be
asked to leave the venue.
6. Delegates are not permitted to exit the venue during the event except for religious,
excretion, health, and/or emergency purposes. The leaving must be informed to the
nearest committee, mainly from the Delegates Relations division.
7. No one is permitted to smoke or light a fire inside the venue. Any person found to be
in violation of this rule will have their lighter/cigarette/vape/etc. confiscated by the
committee and/or will be asked to leave the venue.
8. Any audio-visual publication regarding the Committee Session activity is prohibited. If
delegates are willing to share the activity of the event, it is advised to inform the
Public Affairs committee to get permission.
9. Posting pictures of event activities on social media is strongly encouraged. It is advised

1. Delegates are obligated to attend the Social Night from the beginning. The Social
Night will be held in the hotel’s bar on the 7th floor. The failure to follow this rule will
result in the awarding decision.
2. Delegates are recommended to explore and experience the entirety of the event’s
entertainment as well as having the best time of one’s life. Any person found to be in
violation of this rule will get a serious penalty, namely FOMO (fear of missing out).
3. Delegates must bring their JOINMUN passport and wear attire according to the
dress code of the Committee Session, 90’s fashion. This can feature baggy jeans,
flannel shirts, overalls, crop tops, band t-shirts, neon colors, windbreakers, platform
shoes, and other era fashion fads. The dress code picture reference can be seen on
the dress code section of the handbook.
4. No one under the legal age of drinking is permitted to drink alcohol. Anyone under
the age of 21 will not be able to order an alcoholic beverage, even if accompanied by
an adult.
5. The use of any device to live stream is prohibited. If delegates are willing to share a
live stream of the event, it is advised to inform the Public Affairs committee to get
permission.

conversation or other devices. Any person found to be in violation of this rule will be

3. Delegates must bring their JOINMUN passport and wear attire according to the

4. Delegates are responsible for their belongings, including waste. Anyone must help to
keep the venue clean.

How to Get There
Non-Accomodations:

For delegates choosing the non accommodations package from Tugu, you can reach
Sheraton through:

Route 1: Personal Vehicle


Search for Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta through Google Maps and it will approximately
take a 30 minutes car ride from Stasiun Tugu.

Route 2: Online Driver Apps


Choose the Stasiun Tugu East Gate as your pick up point and Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta
as your destination. The total cost of this route is around Rp80.000,- for a car ride.

Disclaimer: These directions work the same way if you do not depart from Tugu

Directions on how to get to Sheraton: You will be guided through Google Maps for
navigation.

Upon arrival, you will be escorted to a representative of JOINMUN. Once at the venue, you
will meet with a JOINMUN volunteer who will assist you directly to the West Lobby:

Reminder to arrive at least 1 hour before the event starts

After arriving, prepare for the upcoming chain of events scheduled for the evening.

Accommodations and Non-Accomodations:

Arrival at Tugu:
Delegate Relations Representative will be waiting for delegates with a name card
displaying JOINMUN's name.
They will assist you and your baggage.
Proceed to the JOINMUN Bus according to your respective time and clusters.

Arrival at Sheraton:
Upon arrival at the hotel, delegates will be paired up with a roommate.
Meet with a JOINMUN Representative.
The JOINMUN Representative will direct you to the concierge desk.
Receive your room key from the concierge.
Upon receiving your room key, you are expected to head to your room with your
assigned roommate and place your luggage(s) there before proceeding with the rest
of the scheduled events.

After receiving your room key and checking into your rooms, prepare for the upcoming chain
of events scheduled for the evening.

Return process:
Return all room keys to Sheraton: Prior to departure, ensure that you return all room keys
to the Sheraton front desk.
Prepare your luggage: Pack your luggage in preparation for your departure.
Enter JOINMUN Bus: Board the JOINMUN Bus for your transportation.
Drop off at Tugu: The JOINMUN Bus will take you to Tugu Station, where you will be
dropped off.

By following these steps, you can smoothly complete the return process, including returning
room keys, preparing your luggage, boarding the JOINMUN Bus, and being dropped off at
Tugu Station.

Important Notes
Delegates with Accommodations Package will receive free transport from Tugu Station to
Sheraton.
If you choose the accommodation option, here are the details regarding your room at
Sheraton Mustika:
Shared room at Sheraton Mustika: You will be sharing a room with another delegate
at Sheraton Mustika.
Room number assignment: The specific room number at Sheraton Mustika will be
provided to you between seven days (h-7) and one day (h-1) prior to your scheduled
stay.
This way, you will have a shared room at Sheraton Mustika, and you will receive your
assigned room number within the specified timeframe before your arrival.

book your ticket
2. We highly encourage that you/your team book arrival and departure tickets at once.
3. We centralized our transportation plan in Tugu Yogyakarta Station.
4. We highly recommend that you book your ticket before 14 September 2023.
5. Our schedule for transportation service starts 10.00 AM until 14.30 PM on 28
September 2023 and 09.00 AM until 14.30 PM on 1 October 2023.
6. Please ensure your arrival schedule fits our transportation service schedule.
7. We don’t serve any transportation services besides Tugu Yogyakarta Station and
Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA).
8. For those of you who use planes, make sure to book an airport train ticket.
9. Please fill your booking information to our transportation forms at:

This arrival and departure schedule includes your transport from YIA to Tugu using an
airport train.
3. Pick Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) as your destination and complete the
payment.

to the self-ticketing machine and either scanning the bar code or by inputting the

the 28th of September 2023 for the arrival and book a departure ticket on the 1st of

transportation service at Tugu Yogyakarta Station.
3. Pick Tugu Yogyakarta Station as your destination and complete the payment.

5. After arriving at Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), prepare to check in and print

Food

Food provided: Lunch will be provided for all three days of the event.
Dinner provided: Dinner will be provided from day one to day three.
Coffee break snacks: Snacks will be provided during coffee breaks.
