Step 1 - Check

Fig 1.1

Figure 1.1 includes charts displaying the results of my first Marketing Management block at Hanze
UAS, it shows the credits earned from each subject as well as the mark obtained in a chart format. Of
the expected credits to be earned in this beginning block I managed to obtain all 15 resulting in a
pass and no rewriting of exams.

Despite the passing of this block, the results earned were not expected, they are lower than one
would hope leading to some disappointment. Initially I believed that the content exams as well as
the PIC portfolio would be easy and I wouldn’t need to put in much work to pass, therefore I did put
in minimum effort. The result of which can be seen above, clearly, I was incorrect on this assumption,
and I was lucky enough to have passed despite the lack of effort. This was a huge wakeup call and
has pushed me to work harder in block 2 to avoid such a close call to failure.

My IPA result was gladly accepted considering how much work was put into the project personally,
considering how much effort I alone, put in, I am impressed by the passing of the course and

extremely grateful. I hope this grade will improve in IPA 1.2 as I have now learnt how important it is
to follow the contract made in week 1 and will be following it religiously.

My study tactics in block 1 were effective and included writing and reviewing flash cards, I will
continue to be using this method going forward but will begin preparing them way before the exam
to avoid my previous mistakes of last-minute cramming.

Step 2 - Act

Fig 1.2

Figure 1.2 includes my SMART goals made in block 1, my goal above however refers to the entirety of
year 1 and therefore doesn’t need to be changed too much moving forward. All steps were followed
well, and I am grateful for the worksheet as a whole. I accredit it with my passing of this block.
However as stated previously, more effort needs to be put in to studying and therefore going forward
I will be adding a clause to my Key Steps that states, ‘Beginning the study process in the first week of
each block to ensure the workload doesn’t begin to get overwhelming’. I have already begun putting
this motion into play and have high hopes for its success.

5
I do not believe any further changes need to be made.

Conclusion
Block 1 was my first introduction to university courses and how the next four years of study are going
to play out, despite not achieving the grades I had expected, I am so proud of myself for passing my
first block at Hanze UAS. I have learnt so much about what the course entails and how much effort is
expected, this knowledge will be carried through to future blocks, hopefully leading to the
improvement of grades. My main issue was the assumption that the courses are easy and therefore
the exams are too, this assumption will never be made again, and I will now strive to study harder
than before.
