Brenda’s Herbal Dewormer

 FEBRUARY 28, 2016  BRENDA COSENTINO  37 COMMENTS

I didn’t want to give away my herbal recipes. I knew I could make some serious money by
selling herbal preparations. I was very familiar with what was available on the market and
http://realfoodrebel.com/brendasherbaldewormer/ 1/34

understood how I could improve on the type and dosages that were currently on offer. I kept
praying about it and felt that I was being prompted to give all of my recipes away for free. I
have felt so moved by the many messages that I receive daily from so many people who are
sick, unable to work and just trying to make ends meet. I decided this entire blog would be
my gift to the world. I would share everything that worked for me for free. The results have
been astounding, and I have received such love and abundance in return. At the time of this
article’s writing, I have completely recovered from parasites, Lyme Disease, candida and
EBV.

In 2009, my alternative health practitioner advised me to have my amalgam fillings removed.

My health was not improving, despite having switched to the Specific Carbohydrate Diet for
a full year. Once the amalgams were removed, I was advised to eat lots of raw garlic to help
with the elimination of mercury from my system. Quite by accident, I discovered a large
ascaris worm in my stool. To my shock and horror, I began researching parasites and possible
treatments.

Research led me to Hulda Clark and several other herbalists and Naturopathic Doctors on
internet forums. Hulda Clark claimed that flatworms, roundworms, protozoa, bacteria and
viruses were easy to kill using black walnut tincture (extra strength), wormwood and cloves.
I decided to give these a try.

I discovered while cleansing that I had a very bad ascaris, tapeworm, fluke and ropeworm
problem. Most chronically ill people have these, but will never discover them unless they do
a cleanse.

I bought and tried various commercial deworming products and found many too weak to kill
the larger worms. These weak products gave me the impression many times that I had
cleared the parasite infections. Symptoms, however, told me that I still had them. It took a
lot of trial and error to figure all of this out. These products may have been effective
decades ago but for those who have had to deal with the newly discovered stealth infections
like ropeworm, these products are much too weak. I began studying the most common herbs
used in these products and decided to make my own herbal dewormer. Not only were these
commercial products ineffective, but expensive. I realized I could make my own for a fraction
of the cost and use them at dosages that would finally be effective.

http://realfoodrebel.com/brendasherbaldewormer/ 2/34

It took me almost a full year to completely eliminate my parasite infections. Many writers
are suggesting that one year for parasite cleansing is not unusual or unrealistic. It will
depend on how established the parasites are and how nutritionally and mineral depleted the
person is. I was very debilitated at the time that I began parasite cleansing.

BRENDA’S HERBAL DEWORMER

Black Walnut Tincture – Two tablespoons per week mixed in about 4 oz of water
OR – Use black walnut powder mixed into the following herbs.

Black walnut powder 1/4 cup

Artemisia Annua (Sweet Annie Wormwood) powder– 1/2 cup
Ground cloves powder– 1/4 cup
Olive leaf powder– 1/4 cup
Cat’s Claw powder – 1/4 cup
Pau d’arco powder 1/4 cup
Cascara Sagrada powder– 1/2cup

Mix all of the herbs together and store in a glass jar. I use 1 heaping tsp in an 8oz glass of
water, in the morning and at night before bed, on an empty stomach. I drink another big glass
of water to wash everything down. I started with a much smaller dose and worked my way
up over a period of two to three weeks. This approach will enable each person to determine
what the ideal dose for their particular parasite infection will be. It is really important to be
drinking at least 2-3 liters of water per day while cleansing.

Optional herbs – Elecampane was helpful with a chronic cough that would appear at least
once or twice per year and last for months on end.

**Note** – I used artemisia annua (Sweet Annie wormwood) long term. Many feel that
wormwood should be taken with breaks in between. Andrographis is a wonderful herb that
can be substituted for the wormwood in this recipe and can be rotated every month in place
of the wormwood. I have personally used it off and on while cleansing. It is very bitter and I
prefer to take it by the capsule.

THIS RECIPE IS EFFECTIVE ON A WIDE RANGE OF PARASITES,

BACTERIA, VIRUSES, YEAST AND FUNGI.

7/27/2016 Brenda’s Herbal Dewormer – Real Food Rebel

1. Wormwood – Wormwood is the most powerful dewormer and has been used for
thousands of years to expel tapeworms, threadworms, hookworms,
pinworms , roundworms and malaria..

2. Black walnut – Black Walnut is very effective against tapeworms, pinworms, candida
albicans (yeast infections) ringworm and malaria.

3. Cloves – Cloves contain eugenol, caryophyllene, and tannins which have powerful anti-
microbial properties – these components are what actually travel in the bloodstream killing
microscopic parasites and all parasitic larvae and eggs. Eugenol is one of the most powerful
anti-microbial agents known. Eugenal kills all microscopic protoza and removes parasite
eggs in every stage of development. Cloves are tremendously effective in killing malaria,
tuberculosis, cholera, scabies and other parasitic infections as well as viruses, bacteria and
fungi, including candida. Cloves also destroy pseudomonas aeruginosa, all species of
shigella, staph and strep.

4. Olive leaf powder – Its active ingredient is a phenolic compound known as oleuropein
(also commercially extracted from the leaves of olive trees). Olive leaf has been used as a
medicinal herb for thousands of years. It is effective against viruses, retroviruses, bacteria,
spirochetes, rickettsiae, chlamydiae, fungi, yeasts, molds, protozoa, helminths and other
parasites.

5. Cat’s claw – It has proven helpful with Crohn’s disease, gastritis and duodenal ulcers,
intestinal inflammation, parasites, and balancing intestinal flora. It is also one of the core
herbs in Stephen Buhner’s Lyme Protocol.

6. Cascara Sagrada– Cascara sagrada stimulates wavelike contractions of the large

intestine. For this reason, it has been used to help expel parasites through these wavelike
actions in the lower intestines, and is highly recommended for their removal. It also has anti-
viral properties. Cascara sagrada is considered one of the safest laxative herbs, and is useful
in detoxifying the colon.

7. Pau D’Arco – Pau d’arco also has a long history in herbal medicine around the world. In
South American herbal medicine, it is considered to be astringent, anti-inflammatory,
antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic and laxative; it is used to treat ulcers, syphilis,

http://realfoodrebel.com/brendasherbaldewormer/ 4/34
7/27/2016 Brenda’s Herbal Dewormer – Real Food Rebel

urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal problems, candida and yeast infections, cancer,
diabetes, prostatitis, constipation, and allergies. It is also a powerful antioxidant.

8. Andrographis – This is an herb native to the Indian subcontinent and used in Ayurveda,
the ancient Indian system of health treatment and longevity. Both the fresh and dried
andrographis leaves as well as fresh juice of the whole andrographis plant have been widely
used in traditional remedies and folkloric medicines for liver disorders, children’s bowel
complaints, colic pain, cases of general debility, and convalescence after fevers. It is also
used as a stomachic, anthelmintic, antiperistaltic, and antispasmodic.

WHERE TO BUY HERBS

I buy most of my herbs from Mountain Rose Herbs, Monteagle Herbs or Pacific Botanicals.
You can also look for local herb shops in your area or just google the following herbs. I buy
by the pound or half-pound and for less than $150 am able to make enough dewormer to last
a whole year.

Once I was cleared of the parasites I went on to treat the Lyme Disease and other co-
infections with Stephen Buhner’s herbal protocols. Herbs and the Wahls Paleo Diet saved
my life and have restored me to vibrant health.

Now that I have recovered I do a routine 30 day parasite cleanse every 6 months.

Blessings!

Brenda

Hi Brenda, not sure where to start with this so just going to jump in. I have been
doing your Parasite Cleanse at night with Buhner Program. I am not sure what I am
seeing anymore or what it is. Actually, everything looks foreign now. Mostly slimy
gel like thin seaweed looking stuff with occasional stick like or long spongy
elongated worm looking gel? Ok, so I am also hurting quite a bit on my right liver

http://realfoodrebel.com/brendasherbaldewormer/ 6/34
7/27/2016 Brenda’s Herbal Dewormer – Real Food Rebel

side all the time. Am wondering if I am producing enough Bile to help my liver out
with digestion? My skin is pale , yellow undertone, and wrinkled looking. I eat Wahls
Paleo twice a day with your smoothie in am. I also feel quite toxic, finishing my 4th
month of Protocol. Did your liver hurt continually? Sometimes goes to right hip and
down leg ! I know this might be too much but maybe others can comment also. Do
you think I should go back and add an am dose to the Parasite Protocol.? Have taken
Mebendazole last 4 months for 5 days over full moon, but will not do it again due to
kidney weakness now. What did you take for antibiotic effect, or Vitamin C
antioxidant. Don’t take Vitamin C due to kidney stones from it.

Thanks so much, blessings Renee Turula

Renee – I passed a lot of spongy seaweed looking stuff for a couple of months. I
have reports of others passing this as well. I did get liver pain but never
continuously. If I were you I would up the detox stategies and take a break from
the herbs. sometimes I had to take a few days off to let my body clear all of the
toxins. I was often yellow and gray looking during perids of intense die-off. I
never too vitamin c as this can lower copper and I was deficient in copper. I had
to drink a lot of water and tea during these periods.

Another thing I would take whenever I felt extra toxic was the liver bowel
herbs. These are turmeric, fennel, milk thistle and dandelion mixed in equal
parts. I would take a tspn mixed in water 2 or 3 times per day. Enemas and
activated charcoal were 2 other detox strategies that I relied on during rough
times of detox.

I’m not sure you should add any more herbs to what you are doing now. Sounds
to me like you are going as fast as your body will allow. Each of us is different
and you will have to adjust to find what works for you.

Renee,

I too have been taking Brenda’s parasite for a little over two months. I just started
the Buhners and I am also seeing the lots of slimy brown gel, also the stringy stuff
that is elongated. I thought this might be Candida, because of the branching, but not
sure. Im just glad it’s coming out whatever it is! Honestly, I’ve seen lots of weird
things I can’t identify!
I haven’t started having any liver pain with the Burners as of yet, but then again I am
not up to the full strength yet. I did have lots of liver and stomache issues before I
started Brenda’s parasite cleanse. I drank fennel tea, took milk thistle, but what
really helped me the most was hydro colon therapy..I did two a week to keep the
toxins moving out and I did infra red sauna after the Colin therapy to also sweat out
toxins. After just a week of doing these I stopped having the pain. I did continue for
another week before stopping the Colin therapy. I still do the sauna twice a week to
help me detox, but only because I haven’t had the energy (or weather) to get out and
walk.

I am wondering did you get parasite or lyme disease testing done? Do you feel that
is beneficial in any way?

Thanks,

Hi Jodi- The parasites were visually identifiable once I began cleansing. I was
given a clinical diagnosis for the lyme, babs, bartonella, ebv using symptoms and
muscle testing.

Testing for both are quite inaccurate. There are many false negatives. I have
heard from many suffering with parasites that they placed a whole ascaris
worm in their sample and the test came back as negative. I decided to save the
money and just began treating both. My alternative practitioner told me that he
has sent many for lyme testing in Canada and not one has come back positive. I
would have tested if the tests were more accurate.

Igenix is the most reliable for lyme if you are wanting this done but even that
test can be unreliable.

Thank you that confirms my research as well. Did you ever consider using a Beck

Have you heard that Lyme can be passed on through saliva or body fluids?

Hi Jodi – I did use a Beck Pulser and the Hulda Clark zapper. Neither one of
these will take care of intestinal parasites. At least not in my case. The herbs,
diet and lifestyle were the only things to finally restore my health

Research suggests that lyme can be passed through saliva and other body
fluids.

Thanks for your comments Ella. Just wanted to drop a quick line after watching the
Microbiome Summit today. Both Dr. Natasha McBride, “GAPS” author and Dr.
Perlmuttter, “Grain Brain” spoke. Very interesting to hear their most recent findings
about our friendly gut bacteria that we need to be nourishing and protecting.
Including the biome of our skin.
Dr. Natasha McBride did say on her diet to heal leaky gut and re-establish good
flora that she would leave out all fiber, cellulose, and starch until the gut stopped
leaking. Reason being the starch and cellulose feed the bad microbes and your gut
continues to leak. Here is where Dr. Wahls and McBride differ. I have been seeing
these spongy blobs and pieces for months, now I believe its do to the bad microbes
feeding off the starch, cellulose and fiber of my smoothie. I don’t believe Brenda
added her smoothie in until all her parasites were gone and no more leaky gut. So
looks like I will get back to bone and meat broth with vegetables cooked for the first
few weeks of phase I Diet. I would encourage all to listen to her and her experience
of dealing with the Gut. Before we can feed the Mitochondria we must heal the
leaky gut and seal up the holes ore else our Auto-Immune will keep attacking us
thinking the proteins in our blood are Virus’s, Bacteria, Mold etc…….Very
interesting and perfect timing. Check it out and let me know what you think?
Thanks again Ella, and best wishes for a successful and healthy journey to wellness

Thanks for this, what you have recovered from is exactly what I’m living now. I just
started Cowdens and I wonder if this protocol can be used at the same time? I see a
few above area already on Buhner and just started this.

I was also a bit unsure how to interpret the recepie. I read it as you either use black
walnut tincture mixed with water, or the black walnut powder, and regardless of
which one you choose you mix it with the rest of the herbs in the list. Is this correct?

Thank you!

Benganna – I don’t know about combining herbal protocols. Mine is very strong
and I wouldn’t really want to add anything to the parasite cleanse or Buhner’s
for that matter. It is really important to try and heal the gut and get mineral
levels up in the body.

You can either use the black walnut tincture separately in some water or add in
the black walnut powder to the recipe along with the other herbs. Don’t add the
wet tincture to the dry herbs when you are making the recipe as it will not store
properly. I think this is what you mean. If you choose the tincture take it with
the herbal mix twice per week.

Brenda

Hey Brenda,

I was not sure where to put this question, so hope this is alright.

http://realfoodrebel.com/brendasherbaldewormer/ 14/34
7/27/2016 Brenda’s Herbal Dewormer – Real Food Rebel

I was wondering if through any of your years of ill health…did you ever have your
eyes give you problems? When I first started with the herbs, I had scattering
throughout the body. Although, I suppose it could have happened before and I just
never felt them. Eventually, I started feeling like there was something in or behind
my eyes. I did a few recommended treatments, and felt like my eyes were better.
However, for the past 3 months they’ve become worse again. I feel as if there is
either a bacterial problem or parasites in my eye. There are red lines running
throughout the whites of my eyes most of the time, and they burn sometimes, and I
awaken with filmy eyes and stuff in the corners of my eyes. I’ve never seen a
parasite in them, but can feel something moving. My sight is filmy and my near
sightedness is getting worse by the weeks.

I am at the halfway point of 4th months on the parasite herbal. Should the herbals
not be making the eyes better? … is there a specific parasite that you know of that
the herbal recipe may not be able to take care of? Or can any type get into the eye?

Ive tried the eye brite rinse which helps for that day, but doesn’t do much long term.
Someone else had written that they used coconut oil drops, but have not tried this.
In all your research have you come across anything that helps.

Thanks Brenda. So appreciate you.

Hi Ella- There are others that have had parasites in their eyes. However I would
first have an eye exam to rule out anything else.

My eyesight while battling Lyme Disease varied from one day to the next. I’m
not sure but I suspect it is the level of toxicity in the body and the liver trying to
keep up with the toxins.

I did find that the addition of a big daily green smoothie really helped my eye

sight. I too had the burning and blood shot symptoms that you talk about. These
have now been resolved. I have developed mild floaters that seem to come and
go.

Many of us that had a bad parasite problem will be affected systemically. I just
kept cleansing and working on boosting my nutrient levels.

Hi, Ella,

I’m curious as to whether or not the scattering improved after a few months on
the protocol? I’m not using it yet as I am a nursing mom but I previously treated
my family and I for pinworms with the OTC med only to later experience the
scattering symptoms in my sinuses, eyes, nose and ears. It’s just awful and not
real sure what to do to get better, especially when I’m still breastfeeding. Let
me know your progress!

Hi Olivia,

Yes, the scattering has much improved. I still feel them occasionally in my
head, but mostly in my legs. I read somewhere that they go to the head and
legs/ feet to get as far away as possible from the herbs.
http://realfoodrebel.com/brendasherbaldewormer/ 16/34
7/27/2016 Brenda’s Herbal Dewormer – Real Food Rebel

Taking Brenda’s herbal recipe long term has cut my load tremendously. I
wish I could say they are gone after six months, but they are not. However,
I am much much better and as I said the load is greatly reduced. I don’t even
have trouble with the eyes any longer.
I also, like Brenda, did some meds during the full moon each month. I quit
those two months ago and am doing essential oils along with her herbals
during the full moon phase.

Good luck to you. This has to be difficult with small children. I will pray for a
successful journey for you.

Hi Brenda, I’m not sure if you have time to read all these comments anymore but I
had a question I thought you might be able to answer.
I have all the classic symptoms of lyme/co-infections: Intense fatigue, brain fog, bad
skin, poor health and on and on.
Something has really been especially bothering me lately:
Every other day or so I get an overwhelming urge to eat and it doesn’t feel like

http://realfoodrebel.com/brendasherbaldewormer/ 17/34
7/27/2016 Brenda’s Herbal Dewormer – Real Food Rebel

hunger it feels almost like a blood sugar crash where you just need to eat something
quick. But its not quite the same feeling. So i eat and eat but NOTHING, NO
AMOUNT OF FOOD satisfies me. If i do indulge it I only feel like stopping when my
stomach can’t hold anymore. I believe I have some form of lyme disease and co-
infections including parasites. This sounds like a symptom of parasites. Did you ever
experience these kind of changes in appetite? And if so do you think it was related
to your parasite infection?

Thank you for all that you share on you’re blog- I visit it daily for inspiration and I’m
following a similar path to recovery.

Best Regards,

Luthien

Hi Luthien- Yes I experienced the overwhelming urge to eat and eat. I

remember wanting to sit on my couch and just eat bowl after bowl of ice-cream.
I believe this is caused by an enteric bacteria or parasite of some sort. This has
happened to me a few times over the course of my life. The only thing that has
ever helped is the bowel cleanse followed by a parasite cleanse.

This is where I started. http://realfoodrebel.com/start-with-a-bowel-cleanse/

I can take 6-9 of the ingredients though plus I’m going to start your bowel
cleanse next week. I discovered the raving appetite was actually out of
control cortisol levels related to my thyroid and adrenal gland but I believe
those issues are related to my gut and bacterial/parasite infections
because my constipation has never been worse. I can really relate to how
hopeless you were feeling at the beginning of your treatment.

Thanks for the reply and you continue to be an inspiration to me.

Hi Brenda!

Thank you SO VERY much for all that you do with this website, it has truly given me
hope that I will recover my health! I was hoping you could go into a little more detail
regarding enemas, i.e. how frequently you did them and for how long. I have been
doing coffee enemas now for the past 4 months a few times a week and have
noticed that my bowels are no longer moving without them. Now experiencing lots
and lots of stomach grumbling as well as expelling quite a few parasites. I was
wondering if you experienced anything similar regarding the infrequency due to
enemas as I know you took cascara sagrada for constipation. I’ve read that we
should be having multiple bowels each day which unfortunately has never been a
reality for me. Thanks x1000!

Hi Wes- I did many enemas when the die-off was very intense. I did them daily
for several years while I was very ill. Several of these chronic infections can
paralyze the bowel and cause constipation. I too was not having full bowel
movements as a result of the continuous enemas. I then started using cascara
sagrada more and more. I just felt that it was better to have the wave action of

peristalsis to loosen up the waste and move anything out that was adhering to
the walls. The good news is that I haven’t done an enema or used laxatives for
the last 20 months. I have normal bowel movements once or twice per day now.
I was constipated for most of my life so there is hope for anyone. Probiotics and
healing the gut microbiome are key to all of this.

Brenda, first.. thank you! after FIVE years of a gut infection I am actually healing.
WOW. However, after the last cluster of worms came out (this was the cause of the
pain in my right side, where I thought it was my liver), I felt amazing. Then I felt
ravenous and ate too much I think and they came back. Or it was time to switch out
the wormwood for the Andrographis, so that is what I did. After two days of this I
had an allergic reaction to the Andrographis. What else can I use to rotate with the
worm wood? because clearly it needs to be rotated. Thank you!

Hi emme- I would add in 2 cloves of chopped garlic taken in the middle of a meal
twice per day. I just chopped it up and put it on a spoon and then washed it
down without chewing with some water. When I took it on an empty stomach it
really burned badly. It is strong wo you may need to start with one clove.

Garlic – Garlic is known to slow and kill more than 60 types of fungi and 20
types of bacteria, as well as some of the most potent viruses known to humans.

Garlic also has a history of killing parasites, controlling secondary fungal

infections, detoxifying while gently stimulating elimination, and has antioxidant
properties to protect against oxidation resulting from parasite toxins.

Allicin and Ajoene are the components in garlic that kill parasites (including
one-cell varieties), as well as pinworms and hookworms. Allicin is not present in
garlic in its natural state. When garlic is chopped or otherwise damaged, the
enzyme alliinase acts on the chemical alliin contained in its fibers, converting it
into allicin. Ajoene is the principal compound responsible for garlic’s
anticoagulant properties and contributes to its strong odor.

Garlic has properties that are antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal,

antiprotozoal, and antiparasitic. It kills: B. subtilis, E. coli, P. mirabilis,
Salmonella typhi, Salmonella enteritidis, methicillin-resistant Staph aureus,
Staph faecalis, and V. cholerae, Staphylococcus, Escherichia, Proteus,
Salmonella, Providencia, Citrobacter, Klebsiella, Hafnia, Aeromonas, Vibrio and
Bacillus genera. Garlic is also very effective against Mycobacterium
Tuberculosis. Garlic has also been known to eliminate Candida albicans.

Thank you for the comprehensive post. Valuable information. I will try this
but I think I have a hard time with garlic because I REEK of garlic. Is there
another alternative? Thank you so much!

I would just do the regular recipe and rotate out the wormwood every

30 days. That’s what I would do. The other herbs like olive leaf are also
very effective against worms so I wouldn’t worry about finding an
alternative to the andrographis or garlic. The herbs are very broad
based.
