TOPIC: HOW TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL JOB INTERVIEW
INTRODUCTION
1. Welcoming the audience:
Hello everyone,

2. Appreciating the audience’s attendance:

First of all, we want to thank you all for coming here today. We know all of
you are very busy. But even so, you still come to the meeting today, so we feel
extremely grateful for this.

3. Introducing your group:

Before we begin, let me introduce my group briefly. My name is Nguyen,
I’m a first-year student at Can Tho University. And these are Yen Nhi, Van Duy,
and Thuy Nhi. All of them are members of my group.

4. Saying what the topic of your presentation is:

This afternoon I’d like to talk to you about some ways to have a good
successful job interview. This is one of the biggest problems right now. So, we
want to ask you 2 questions: “Have you ever had a job interview?” And: “If yes,
was the interview successful or not? Why?”. Well, let’s follow us to find the
answers.
5. Explaining the importance of your presentation:
I think that today’s topic will be very important for you because it will help you
better understand what is needed for your job interview in the future. Hopefully
what we bring will give you a multi-dimension view of this issue.

6. Outlining your presentation:

Our presentation will focus on 3 moments of the job interview: Before the
interview, During the interview, and after the interview. We will provide the
necessary information for each interview time.

7. Directing your presentation:

Our presentation should take about 20 minutes and we’ll be taking questions at the
end. Don’t worry about taking notes. We’ve put all the information in an email for
you. Thank you again for being here and let’s start.

BODY PARTS (3 MAIN POINTS)

1. Introducing the first key message/ main point (+ Supporting ideas to
explain: examples, reasons, explanations, etc (before the interview)
The first main point we’d like to start with is what we need to do before the job
interview. First, the outfit for an interview must be serious and appropriate because
nó matter how experience you are, if you don’t care about the appearance, you will
be judged as having poor interview skills, being careless and disrespectful to the
business.Besides, you must arrive on time because being late shows that you are
unprepared and irresponsible to the company. Another essential thing is to research
about the company you are applying for. Knowing the most important information
about the company can help you enter the interview confidently. That’s all we
wanted to say about the first point of our presentation.

2. Moving on to the next message/next main point (during the interview):

Let’s now turn to our next point is what we should do during an interview.
According to the careereducation.columbia.edu. First, we need to listen to the
interviewers attentively and make sure to answer all of their questions. So that they
can see that we are serious with this job. Second, you should use body language
including proper gestures and postures to convey your confidence and engagement.
Moreover, use eye contact as well, or it will show that you’re not confident to face
the interviewers. Last but not least, don’t forget to request a business card to send a
thank you note. This will demonstrate that you appreciate the time and attention
that the interviewers spent on you, and they will impressed with you. This may set
you apart from other candidates. That’s all I wanted to say about things we should
do in the interview: listening and answering questions carefully, using body
language and sending a thank you note.

and-after-your-interview

3. Moving on to the next message/next main point (after the interview):

My final point is in regard to what we will do after the interview. Accordding to

the indeed.com. The first step, sending a thank you note within 24 hours of the
interview is an important task. We can send directly or via email, but email seems
a faster and more convinent way. So, this will show that we are timely,
professional and taking the opportunity seriously. Second, we should assess our
interview performance. We can write the questions we recall and how we answered
them. Or write things that we can do better, or things that we wish we did to
improve your experiences. These information will help us in future interviews.
Next, we should touch base with company contact after the first interview and keep
in touch with the person who connected us to the role. This person may not be a
recruiter or the hiring manager, just someone else we know in the company. They
may be able to testify to us, which can make a big difference in the final interview
stages. By setting them a few lines of thanks and sharing our continued interest in
the role. Let me briefly summarize what I’ve said so far. We should do these things
after the interview: sending thank you not within 24 hours, assessing our interview
performance, touching base with company contacts.

interview
CONCLUSION
1. Signaling the end of your presentation
I’m now approaching the end of our presentation.

2. Summarizing the main points

Before we stop, let me go over the key points again. It only takes a couple of
minutes, so please be patient. Firstly, I’ve talked about the things we should do to
help us improve our interview before we get into it. Secondly, I’ve discussed some
solutions during the interview. Finally, I’ve looked at some things that I think you
may notice after having an interview.

3. Stating the final thought

And, as Dave Rubin once said: “My policy with interviewing is I'm not there
to teach the people I'm across from a lesson.”. In my opinion we should dress
formally, preparing yourself a comfortable mind and follow the instructions to
have a successful interview.

4. Closing remarks
Thank you (very much) for your attention.
Here are some references we have used in our presentation.

5. Inviting questions
I’m here to answer any question you may have, so please don’t hesitate to
ask.
