Narrator (Sarvesh) – A pleasant good morning to all my dear friends and respected teachers,
myself Sarvesh Gote as the narrator and we have come to present a role play about tribes,
nomads, and settled communities. Let's get started.
One day ….
Explorer 1- Hmm do you guys know about the Chero tribes? I, with my fellow mates, will be
finding out more information about these tribes. So, my dear explorers let's go exploring!
Everyone shouts “Yes!”
They went to the state of Jharkhand and reached a village nearby. They start to approach an
old man.
Explorer 2- Excuse us old man, do you know anything about the untold mystery of the Chero
tribes?
Old man- Of course, they live just near the jungle next to the village and they often come to
visit us.
Explorer 3- Well, that’s nice, what do you know about them?
Old man- The Chero chiefdoms had emerged by the twelfth century in the states of Bihar
and Jharkhand. They were defeated by Raja Man Singh, a famous general of Akbar in 1591.
Well, I am truly sorry but that’s all I know about the Chero tribes, but if you need any more
information, you can ask my wife.
The old woman / his wife comes.
Old woman- Where have you been? I have been searching for you for so much time, and
weren’t you given the responsibility to clear the field?
Old man- Oh I had cleared the field; I have met some guests. They want to know about the
Chero tribes.
The old woman greets the explorers and starts to speak.
Old woman- Oh wow It feels nice to share some facts that I know with everyone. So The
Chero tribes are essentially one of many tribal communities, such as the Bhar, Pasi,
and Kol, that inhabit the southeastern corner of Uttar Pradesh. The Chero
dynasty ruled parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand until they were deposed
by Ujjainiya Rajputs and the East India Company. I also know how to translate their
language into English.
Explorer 2- Oh we can take her with us on our exploration right guys?
Explorers together nice idea Milonee.
They visit the jungles and find the Chero tribe.
