The government seems, also, to cut off all of the things that they think are sources of
the problem at once as well. There is, and never really has been, any balance in the
system of the government when it comes to this type of issue. People come up with their
own theory to make themselves feel like they are still in the right, the government

Throughout Monkey Beach, Identity is a constant and important theme. Lisa is trying
to define herself in a world which does not appreciate indigenous traditions. Ma ma oo
says that Gladys once had the same gift and that she could know who was going to die
next (Robinson 98), but Gladys gave it up as she grew older. In the same way, Gladys
is portrayed as fun loving and adventurous in her youth. We are told of her having made
enough snow angels while drunk that, the whole front yard was covered with them
(Robinson 65). However, Gladys is a flat character who now believes the little man is
merely a reoccurring dream. She has not just lost the gift, she has lost part of her culture
and belief in the supernatural. Lisa s resistance to the dismissal of her gift is how she
differs from her mother, and is a very important part of Lisa s character. Lisa s identity
throughout the book is complex, but most importantly, she is underdeveloped as a
person. It is important to note that the reason Lisa cannot communicate with the dead
very well is because she lacks the required knowledge, this serves as metaphor for future
generations being aware of their culture; but not nurturing it to a point of understanding.

The reader can choose to believe Jimmy is dead because he is seen as a ghost, or the

The fate of jimmy is ambiguous because Lisa cannot communicate effectively with the
dead. When Lisa goes to the spirit world Ma ma oo says that her gift is like Oxasuli,
unless you know how to use it she says, it will kill you (Robinson 226). My argument
is that, though Lisa is not dead, her gift has certainly killed her sense of identity. As a
person, Lisa is unsociable and does not understand the issues behind her questions. She
communicates as effectively with the dead as she does the living, she frequently
misunderstands social queues and even when she does recognize her mistakes, she doesn

convey the messages. One of the greatest painter that can reflect the lives of the
Mexican people is Diego Rivera. Diego Rivera is famous for marrying a fellow
Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, but is a notorious womanizer, also famous for his paintings.
In one of the paintings, Frozen Assets, Diego Rivera visited New York during the Great
Depressiondepicting the people and city in his paintings with colors with the meaning

down. Mario, a Guatemalan gentleman, entered her life and they soon fell in love.

has been limited to making prototypes. 3D printing versus Traditional Manufacturing
techniques in almost every field is still very debatable.

How will positive reinforcement affect speed and accuracy on a timed multiplication test?

Purpose:
To determine whether positive reinforcement has a bigger effect on speed or accuracy,
and to what degree.

Research:
When I took AP Psychology last year, I learned that positive reinforcement will
reinforce someone s behavior by making them associate the behavior with a positive
stimulus. In my experience, rushing through things usually causes me to have a faster
time, but a lower score. In a study published February of 1990, it was stated that
teachers systematic use of certain categories of verbal statements, such as praise and
reprimands, can have a positive impact on student behavior, achievement, or both. This
seems to indicate that positive reinforcement and encouragement may have an effect on
the achievement of students. However I was unable to find a study comparing the
accuracy and speed of participants in a study, and so I will have to make a few
assumptions of my own based on previous knowledge in order to form a hypothesis.

many different protection methods. The five methods I think would benefit humans
the most in an alien invasion would be: venom, speed, webbed feet, strong claws, and
strong jaws. Venom would be very important for my protection because I would rather
kill the aliens, instead of avoiding them. In order to inject venom into the aliens,
humans would need to have sharper teeth. I would sneak up on an alien and bite them.
