CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

The story needs to be set up introducing the characters enjoying a party at a manor, but a
group of outlanders tells them of where they were from, a mountains region, ruled by an
insanely powerful Beholder named; Thentash who would constantly go into a deep slumber
to enhance his psionic abilities.
He gives them a promise of 300 credits and the eye of Thentash. The players are expected
to take the bounty but if not, go to the “Declining The Bounty’ section, if they accept,
continue to “The Mountain Hike”

THE MOUNTAIN HIKE

Make the party have 2 randomized encounters while trekking up the snowy mountain, then
have them encounter someone bleeding in the snow, if the players roll insight - they notice
that the elf had been bitten by a death kiss, if the players want to help the elf, they can put
him on their cart, but on tier way up, keep rolling a d6 until a 6 is rolled, 1-5 triggers a
random encounter and 6 triggers the “Death kiss encounter”
Until then, the party will follow tracks of many people and horses up the hill, the players need
to keep rolling DEX checks DC - 3+, if any are failed, explain to the player that he falls down
the steep mountain.

DEATH KISS ENCOUNTER

When the death kiss encounter is rolled, a single death kiss can be found draining the blood
of a tiger, before turning around and initiating combat, but since it is snowing, it gets -1 to
every dice roll. The players must think tactically and work together in very specific ways to
survive the Death Kiss (tell this to them).

ON DEFEAT
———————
On the chance that all of the players fail the fight and their death rolls, then continue to the
CAPTURED! Section of chapter 2

ON VICTORY
———————
If (hopefully) the players survive the death kiss, than the death kiss’ final words are – (D4)
1. (Pretentious) “I-I let you win… but you wont get past Cemile!”
2. (Sad) “I don’t wish to end like Th-this, Thentash, f-f-forgive me…”
3. (Informative) “this is the end of my bloodlust, curse you princess!”
4. (Happy!) “My suffering is at an end!”

When defeating the death kiss, the players finally end the encounters on the hill and find the
demolished castle of Princess Demilia, go to “Ruined Castle.” In chapter 2
DECLINING THE BOUNTY

If the players decline the mission, they will go to sleep at night where they are all greeted by
a beholder, who introduces himself as Thentash, then gives you your supplies to defeat his
Death Kiss beholder kin, who is named Tash.
If the players try to escape or wake up, they are attacked by a giant skeletal head (that is
indestructible) until they return to fight the Death Kiss charging at them, when they do-
trigger the “Death Kiss Dream Fight”

DEATH KISS DREAM FIGHT

Once the players accept the challenge, they must defeat a single death kiss, The players
must think tactically and work together in very specific ways to survive the Death Kiss (tell
this to them). A beholder (Thentash) is watching the fight in the background, but if they
attempt to go to him, they are greeted by an invisible barrier, but if they INSIST to attack the
beholder, (warn them how high level, it is) it would take a combined d20 roll of DC-80 across
all players, (each player rolls a d20, then add) to get past it, if they do, go to “Thentash the
Destroyer” otherwise

ON DEFEAT
———————
On the chance that all of the players fail the fight and their death rolls, then continue to the
“AWAKE!” Section of chapter 2

ON VICTORY
———————
If (hopefully) the players survive the death kiss, than the death kiss’ final words are – (D4)
5. (Pretentious) “I-I let you win… but you wont get past Cemile!”
6. (Sad) “I don’t wish to end like Th-this, Thentash, f-f-forgive me…”
7. (Informative) “this is the end of my bloodlust, curse you princess!”
8. (Happy!) “My suffering is at an end!”
Then go to the “AWAKE!” section

AWAKE!

After the encounter with the dream of the Death Kiss, the players decide if they want to go to
the mountain and fight Thentash head-on, which could cause there to be more encounters,
or stay in Phandalin and deal with him in their dreams, which could cause his powers to
grow.

GO
––––––––––
If the players decide to go, then they have an encounter with Zurg! From the shoulders
down, Zurg looks like a mind flayer (though don't let him hear you say that!) However, his
head almost makes him look like a construct, albeit a very demented looking one. He is
definitely not from this world...
Possible weaknesses: Short circuit via water or lightning damage over
ZURGS LINES

When the characters are about leave or not, Zurg will bust down the door and say- “I am
Zurg! And I am here to destroy your town, just as I have with princess Demilia. Kneel before
me or perish!

If you disobey, you will experience more pain by the order of Thenash!

__________________________________________________________________________________________

Once Zurg is defeated, the players will be given the ability to fast travel from their inn to the
the ruined mountains of princess Demilia, go to “Ruined Castle” in chapter 2

STAY
––––––––––

If the characters decide to still stay, initiate the encounter with Zurg, then whether they win or
lose, go to the “CAPTURED” section in chapter 2
