1. Understand approach of UNICEF’s program, UPSHIFT

 Why it chose to focus on that aspect of education(for the youths)
“Recognising the importance of education for inclusive economic and social
development, and the need to prepare young people for an uncertain future of
work adn to deal with unprecedented societal, environmental and economic
challenges.

The science of adolescent brain development->

Vital to nurture the person’s ability to move from concrete to abstract thinking,
solve problems, think critically, plan and control impulses. We can take
advantage of the opportunity to ensure an individual acquires the physical,
cognitive emotional, social, and economic resources that are the foundation
for later life health and wellbeing. UNICEF recognizes the youth as sources of
opportunity rather than of problems.

Agenda 2030 Sustainable development goals->

Critical to the success of the 2030 agenda is the role of young people in
engaging with local and national government in delivering on policies and
programmes on the ground

The fourth Industrial revolution->

The revolution could yield greater inequality because of its potential to
transform the future of work and labor markets. As automation substitutes for
labor across the entire economy, the mass displacement of workers by
machines will create a devaluation of labour, “the rise of a ‘useless class’ of
humans”
Targetting inclusive economic and social development, the UPSHIFT programme is holistically
catered for “Vulnerable adolescents and young people aged 14-18”. They managed to reach a cohort
of 20,124 directly (60% female) and 50,409 indirectly(70% female)
