UCLA Extension is a part of the UCLA Division of


Continuing Education. With more than 30,000 participants
per year, UCLA Extension is one of the largest continuing
education programs in the world. UCLA Extension offers
a wide variety of university-level, credit-bearing courses as
well as many other courses and programs for students and
professionals. Many professionals who have university
degrees enroll in UCLA Extension courses and programs

Program Overview
The Study Abroad at UCLA Program is
designed for international students who
want to earn transferable academic credits
while living in and experiencing
everything L.A. has to offer.

For Students Who Want To


• Earn academic credit you can transfer to a university.
• Enroll in UCLA undergraduate daytime and UCLA
Extension evening courses.
• Study side by side with U.S. students, working
professionals, and other international students.

In order to meet international student visa requirements,


students must enroll in a minimum of 12 units of UCLA
and/or UCLA Extension credit.

UCLA and UCLA Extension operate on the quarter


system, with four 11-week sessions per year—fall,
winter, spring, and summer. Study Abroad at UCLA
offers UCLA Extension courses all four quarters and
UCLA courses only in fall, winter, and spring. To enroll
in summer UCLA courses, students can enroll in
UCLA Summer Sessions by going to summer.ucla.edu.
Students often stay for more than one quarter and it
is easy to transfer between Study Abroad at UCLA and
UCLA Summer Sessions.

Program Overview
International Corporate & Custom Programs
brings resources of over 4,000 courses, 100
certificate programs, and countless expert
instructors to create customized learning
experiences that meet the specific needs of
a group of participants.

Programs can be designed for diverse groups: high


school and college students, teachers and faculty,
professionals and executives, as well as government
officials. We will help identify the organization’s
training needs and design a program based upon the
organiza-tion’s requirements, format, and location.

The length of the program varies from one day to several


months, and can take place at UCLA in Los Angeles, at
your location abroad, online, or it can be a hybrid.

Support is available for programs held in Los Angeles

you in getting settled in Los Angeles and
enrolling in UCLA and UCLA Extension courses.

The ISS provides assistance with visa and immigration:

Los Angeles and Campus Experience

Los Angeles
L.A. is a city of contrasts, with beautiful beaches,
mountains, desert landscapes, the hustle and bustle
of business districts, and the small-town feel of peaceful
neighborhoods and quiet streets. Angelenos comprise
a diverse, multiethnic population, representing people
from 240 countries, speaking 224 distinct languages.

Westwood Village
The “hometown” of UCLA and UCLA Extension,
Westwood, features movie theaters, cafes, restaurants,
supermarkets, and a farmer’s market. Westwood bor-
ders the UCLA campus and is only a short bus ride away
from Beverly Hills, Santa Monica beach, and Hollywood.

Schedule tours to local attractions and events in the
Los Angeles area, such as Hollywood, the Getty Museum,
Disneyland, and L.A. Lakers and Dodgers games.
Excursions can be arranged to other destinations in
California and the Southwestern U.S., such as the
Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and San Francisco.

Sports
Los Angeles hosts many professional sports teams,
including the Dodgers, Lakers, Kings, and Galaxy. If you
prefer to participate rather than watch, you can swim
or surf at beautiful beaches, ski or hike in nearby
mountains, or explore the rugged beauty of the desert.
