Hills Like White Elephants Analysis Essay

Crafting an essay on the analysis of "Hills Like White Elephants" can be a challenging yet
intellectually rewarding task. Ernest Hemingway's short story is renowned for its subtle and nuanced
exploration of complex themes, such as communication, decision-making, and the underlying tension
within relationships. The narrative's brevity and Hemingway's characteristic iceberg theory, where
much is left unsaid or implied, add layers of intricacy to the interpretation.

To begin with, one must delve into the text's surface and subtext, unraveling the symbolic
significance of the hills, the white elephants, and the very dialogue between the characters. The
delicate dance of language within the story requires meticulous analysis, as Hemingway often relies
on what remains unspoken to convey the story's true depth. Unearthing the nuances of the characters'
perspectives and emotions demands a keen understanding of the author's minimalist style and an
ability to discern the underlying currents beneath seemingly mundane dialogue.

Furthermore, it becomes imperative to situate the narrative within its historical and cultural context,
considering the societal norms and values prevalent during the time of its writing. This
contextualization aids in comprehending the characters' dilemmas and the societal pressures that
contribute to the story's tension.

Constructing a thesis that encapsulates the essence of the analysis poses its own set of challenges. It
requires synthesizing one's understanding of the story, identifying patterns, and formulating a
cohesive argument that adds to the existing discourse on "Hills Like White Elephants."

In the process of crafting the essay, one must navigate through the academic intricacies of essay
writing – maintaining a coherent structure, providing textual evidence to support arguments, and
engaging with scholarly perspectives that contribute to a well-rounded analysis. Additionally, the
essay should showcase a depth of critical thinking, avoiding superficial interpretations and delving
into the layers of meaning that Hemingway intricately weaves into his narrative.

In conclusion, writing an analysis essay on "Hills Like White Elephants" demands a combination of
literary sensitivity, contextual awareness, and academic rigor. However, the effort invested in
unraveling the story's layers ultimately leads to a richer understanding of Hemingway's masterful
storytelling. For those seeking assistance in navigating the intricacies of literary analysis or any form

We all know that Marawi war made all things in the Philippines conflicted, if not all but
some of them are not in a right condition. It has the impact on the business; some of the
investors changed their mind in investing into their company because of Marawi crisis.
According to Mindanao Business Chair Vicente T. Lao, the ongoing fighting in Marawin
City between the government soldiers and the Maute Group that has already spanned
more than a month will affect the investors confidence on on Mindanao . Also Lao has a
trust in the government and he thinks that the government will go in to help victims by

Strengths And Weaknesses Essay
Working in a family business can be challenging as each person knows his coworkers
quite well. At Rabon s Barber Shop, Bill and his two sons, Cliff and Phil, discover that
their individual strengths compliment one another well, particularly in challenging
situations.
Family Members Strengths Compliment One Another at Barber Shop
When asked which of the men is the best barber, Bill does not hesitate. We all are the
best barber...all three of us. People will come in and request any one of us. * He lets
either son cut his own hair and does not seem to play favorites. They have each cut hair
of men, women, and children.
The Rabons have seen their share of hairstyles through the years. Our most popular cut is
your basic, regular haircut, Cliff says. They also cut many flat tops and fades, which are
also known as high and tights. Phil has cut one woman s hair three times to donate to
Locks of Love. Shaving lines in hair has also been popular, and Cliff and Phil found
themselves challenged when clients would request special designs in their hair in years
past. Phil particularly remembers doing a Nike symbol. Cliff mentions cutting a Batman
bat signal. The bad thing about that was I didn t even think to charge extra! Bill defers
to his sons for special hair designs such as those.
Bill trained at a Winston Salem barber school while Cliff and Phil received their barber
training in Charlotte. The program lasted approximately nine months. It was almost like

Pericles Lion And The Sea-Onion Analysis
he Lion and the Sea Onion. Most self respecting artists would pick the former as the
subject for a monument and dismiss the latter. Yet, the man behind the moniker of Sea
Onion cannot be so easily dismissed. Pericles, the great Athenian statesman, was
nicknamed
Schinocephalos
, or Sea Onion, by contemporary poets because of the large size of his head ( Pericles ,
History.com). The Lion of Justice, in this case, refers to King Henry II of England ( King
Henry II Biography ). On the surface, both Henry II and Pericles appear to be equally
great leaders who made lasting impact on Western civilizations. Henry II established the
English Common Law, which ensured the same laws applied everywhere in the country
(Hinds 60). He also laid the foundation for a unified Britain by claiming Scotland and
Ireland as parts of his realm (Morgan 143). Pericles united the Greek city states into an
empire known as the Delian League with Athens at its center ( Pericles , University
Press Inc). Under his leadership and patronage, arts, literature, and philosophy
flourished, creating a cultural legacy that shaped all areas of Western thinking. Pericles
also led the restoration of the Acropolis and the ambitious construction of the Parthenon
(Nardo 10). But looking beyond their accomplishments, these two historical figures
differ greatly in their motivations and personal conducts. Arguably, two of the most
essential traits of a good leader are integrity and dedication to the common good. Using
these qualities as a metric for comparison, we will see that Henry II falls short while
Pericles is clearly deserving of a monument in his honor
.
Both Henry II and Pericles were highly driven and ambitious. But while Henry was
fueled by the desire to glorify himself and his reign, Pericles wished to glorify Athens
and its people. Henry II wanted to reclaim lands that were previously under his
grandfather s rule. He used force and threats to claim lordship over Wales, Scotland, and
Ireland (Hinds 12). In his mind, it was his birthright. As a general and statesman, Pericles
also helped reclaim land (noticeably Delphi) for Athens ( Pericles , Bio). But rather than
conquering neighboring poleis
, Pericles chose to focus on making Athens a city

visiting websites. Since 2010 there as been a 400% growth in mobile web searches.
(ETC, 2013) Unfortunately websites are very hard for the user to view and navigate
through websites not designed for a small screen used on cell phones. This was the
new challenge for web designers to solve and with the growth of popularity of mobile
usage the web designers needed to make websites for both personal computers and
mobile devices. Now often if the user visit a website using a mobile device they will
be asked if they want to go to the mobile site which are specifically designed for a
better user interface and design for the mobile device. With the smaller screens of
mobile devices the we designers needed to layout the website completely differently so
the user does not get overwhelmed or confused. The new trend for 2013 is called

integrated into websites for users to have a more fun and effective way to navigate though
