The Prius Of The Toyota Prius
The Toyota Prius is the most popular gasoline electric hybrid vehicle in the world.
Launched in 2001 in the United States, Prius is derived from the Latin term to go before,
an apt moniker for this ground breaking, front wheel drive model.
The fourth generation Toyota Prius was released for the 2016 model year. As before, it is
a five door hatchback and is categorized as a midsize model with room for five. Four trim
levels are available: Two, Three, Four, and Five.
The styling direction of the latest Prius complements the Toyota Mirai, its hydrogen
powered electric vehicle. The current Prius maintains the slippery profile of past models
while bringing in sharper accents, deeper body sculpting, and a more rakish profile.
All fourth generation models are marked by sleek headlamp assemblies, a narrow
upper grille, and a large lower grille opening, the latter honed in by deep embrasures.
From the sides, a sloping roof line, a rising belt line and deep sculpting along the rocker
panel is evident.
At the rear, the Prius liftgate is split by a rear spoiler. Dramatic combination lamps
mimic the style of the headlamps; pronounced body sculpting is also evident.
Inside, the cabin features bucket seats up front and a 60 40 split folding bench seat with
a center arm rest in the second row. The Toyota Prius has digital instrumentation and
color display featuring such hybrid information as an energy monitor, eco savings record,
and a drive monitor.
Pop Goes The Weasel
(A) Reading through Ong s work, I was surprised at the way that literacy restructures our
understanding of memory and knowledge, but I recognize the lack of importance of
memory even in my own schooling and day to day activities. Even thinking of a
mnemonic device for this exercise, though several came to mind, was challenging. The
few that were taught in school were the first that come to mind, but these mnemonic
devices would only make sense in a literate society. For instance, the ROY G BIV
mnemonic for the colors of the rainbow, as well as a song set to the tune of Pop goes the
Weasel to remember the quadratic equation, center around letters and names that only
make sense when put in the context of a written world. I wanted to think... Show more

Though in some cases, like Ong referenced, literate people memorize and recite words
in order to accomplish something or perhaps infuse the phrase with power, like in the
case of speeches, liturgies, etc., it seems as if in literate cultures, the repetition that
comes with memorization almost cheapens the importance of the words that are meant
to spoken with power. Ong referenced spiritual words in particular, referencing the ways
that liturgies are read aloud and sometimes scriptures/prayers are spoken aloud in order
to show the sacred, communal nature of the text, for instance in the case of The Lord s
Prayer. But, from my experience, the phrases do not carry the power. Instead, the power
is only in the attitude when speaking/reading through these phrases. The actual words
seem to take a backseat, behind the person speaking

Hyltin, Ashley Bouder...partnered by Stanley, DeLuz and T. Angle. Tall blonde Claire
Kretzschmar was a corps standout here, as she was in Peck s Decalogue in NY. I can t
wait to see this dramatic yet flowing ballet again on Saturday night (alternate casting).
