Crafting an essay on the topic of "Fences" by August Wilson presents its own set of challenges. The
complexity arises not only from the need to understand and analyze the intricate layers of the play
but also from the responsibility to delve into the socio-cultural context that serves as the backdrop for
Wilson's work.
Firstly, to do justice to the essay, one must have a profound understanding of the characters, themes,
and motifs embedded in "Fences." Wilson's rich narrative style and the multifaceted nature of his
characters demand careful consideration and thoughtful analysis. This requires a meticulous reading
of the play, often involving multiple readings to grasp the nuances that contribute to its depth.
Moreover, exploring the socio-cultural aspects relevant to the play is crucial. August Wilson's works,
including "Fences," are deeply rooted in the African American experience, touching upon issues of
race, identity, and the impact of historical events. To write an insightful essay, one must be well-
versed in the historical and cultural context that shapes the narrative.
Crafting a thesis that captures the essence of one's interpretation while aligning with existing critical
discourse adds another layer of complexity. The essay must go beyond mere summary and engage in
a meaningful dialogue with the existing scholarship on "Fences."
The challenge is further heightened by the need for originality. Given the extensive body of work on
August Wilson's plays, producing a unique and fresh perspective requires not only a comprehensive
understanding of existing literature but also a creative approach to synthesizing and building upon it.
Emile Durkheim defined suicide as any death which is the immediate or eventual result
of a positive or negative act accomplished by the victim himself (Emile Durkheim s Four
Types of Suicide, 2014). Emile Durkheim began his studies on suicide in 1897. He
thought that economic, religious, and military factors would greatly influence his
findings. After he concluded his study he found that there were four different types of
suicide. The first type of suicide is Egoistic suicide. This type of suicide occurs when
the degree of social interaction a person has is low. ... Show more content on

An example of this could be when the market crashes or spikes (Emile Durkheim s
Four Types of Suicide, 2014). The last type of suicide is Fatalistic suicide. People
generally commit this type of suicide are people whose lives are kept under tight
regulation. These people often live their lives under extreme rules. These types of
people are left feeling like they have no sense of self (Emile Durkheim s Four Types of
Suicide, 2014) .
Every year there are at least 20,000 firearm suicides in the United States. That s more
than 50 every single day. That s more than half of all suicides and two thirds of firearm
deaths. Research has shown that guns in the home make suicide three times more
likely. There are many reasons why the presence of a firearm in the home can t be a
risk factor for suicide. Having a firearm in the house provides impulsivity for suicide at
times. Also, firms are also so much more lethal than any other method. Most people who
survived a suicide attempt do not go on to die by suicide, but only one in 10 people who
attempt suicide by gun get that second chance (Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun
Violence).
Typically, firearms are divided into two categories, there are handguns and long guns.
Handguns are firearms such as pistols that are designed to be held and fired with one
hand. The most common types of handguns are single shot handguns, revolvers, and
semiautomatics (Saferstein, 2016, p. 192 193). All handguns can be classified as either
single action or
Stephen King Loss Of Innocence Essay
Growing up is not easy Did you ever go looking for a dead body as a kid? Stephen
King s novella The Body: Fall from Innocence is about the right of passage of four
young boys living in Castle Rock in the summer of 1965 and how they become men,
their names are Geordie LaChance, Chris Chambers, Teddy DeChamp and Vern
Tessio and how they lose their innocence. These four boys decide to go on a journey to
find the body of a 12 year old boy named Ray Brower and the challenges they have to

They ll probably pin a medal on you, Penny. Yeah? Vern grinned, showing his bad
teeth. It was a dazed sort of grin, as if the thought of Billy being pleased with anything
he did had acted on him like a hard shot to the chin. Yeah, you think so? (414).Because
of his insecurities, like having bad teeth and being overweight he looks at his friends
and even his older brother Billy seeking for approval from them. He hopes by finding
the dead body of Ray Brower his brother Billy wouldn t worry about reporting the dead
body to the police, since he found it while using a hotwired car and he hope his friend
will stop picking on him and earn alit more respect from them. Vern is probably the
least brave among his friends which makes him look like the weakest link in the
group. No, huh uh! Vern s face knotted in thought. But goin to see a dead kid...He
looked at us rather wildly. I mean, I could be a little scared. If you get me. Nobody
said anything and Vern plunged on: I mean, sometimes I get nightmares... (480) Vern
is the only one to voice out that he is scared to see the dead body of Ray Brower. He is
tired of being the only one always afraid of everything and he wants to change
Five Franciscan Values
How can a mission statement alter an institution, community, and its individuals? The
University of Saint Francis has five Franciscan Values: Reverence the unique dignity of
each person, encourage a trustful, prayerful community of learners, serve one another,
society, and the church, foster peace and justice, and respect creation. These values
prompt change and growth along with providing a set of standards for students and staff.
The values are inspired by Saint Francis himself, and lived out today with a contemporary
Franciscan saint, Mother Angelica. Being a student at a Catholic institution is a beautiful
experience that helps grow an individual holistically. The educational experience focuses
on the mind and spirit. The five Franciscan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Franciscan values are instilled to my thoughts and actions, and will surely be
represented in my future career as an art educator. One of the greatest impacts on how
I view creation was an environmental science course I took the spring semester of my
freshman year. It showed me the importance keeping the earth, my home, clean for
future generations. It showed me the power of my voice to speak on behalf of
creatures who cannot. Many of my recycling choices and diet choices were altered in a
positive way because of that course. In the future, I have decided to live in an
environmentally friendly home(one that uses renewable or reused materials, and
features various forms of renewable energy), and recycle materials. Fostering peace
and justice will be seen in my many attempts to vote, or create art work that is civil
rights centered. I plan over the summer of 2018 to create works of art that have a tone
of change for oppressed individuals or groups of people. I love to teach, so serving
one another, society, and the church is evident in my passion for teaching. I find
fulfillment in watching others grow and teaching is a very humbling career that is
very much a way of serving others. Fostering my students, will hopefully lead them to
be better individuals in the world, and serve, too. I will be able to encourage a trustful,
prayerful community of learners by knowledge I have obtained at USF. Before every
staff member as an RA, we open or close with a prayer. This has shown me the power
of prayer, and what it can do for an individual and the group. My family today does not
pray at dinner or before any meals, but my own family(my children and significant
other) will pray and discuss our day at at least one meal a day. My favorite Franciscan
value, reverence the unique dignity of each
Nuclear Power Pros And Cons
To the citizens of the great new country of Finklegrizziz, I, as your honored President,
have come to a decision that we should allow nuclear power in this fine country. For
those who may not know what nuclear power is, it is a type of power that requires
uranium in addition to heat and steam to create power through fission. In more simple
terms, nuclear energy is created from mining a readily available and easily obtained
mineral rock (uranium) and then when combined with a scientific process (fission),
becomes a clean and safe form of power. There are many pros and cons to this type of
power, and I have spent countless hours reviewing this information in order to be make
the best decision for our country. We will start off talking about some of the pros of this
type of power, which include that it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel this is a much better source to depend on for our power supply rather than a power
source that requires fossil fuels, which are nonrenewable and pollute the atmosphere. In
the long run, this will help our city by providing the same amount, if not more energy
compared to fossil fuel power plants and again keeping the air clean for the citizens of
Finklegrizziz. My second and final reason I will share today in regards to allowing
nuclear energy, is that while the plants initially may be more expensive to build, they
will actually cost much less than normal energy sources in the long run. This is due to
the fact, as mentioned before, that uranium can be mined and is more readily available
to obtain. Also, while there is hazardous material that will need to be stored offsite in
secure locations away from the general population, this is still less expensive to carry
out than the operation of other traditional energy sources. My sincere desire is that you
will understand why I have made the decision to allow nuclear power for the people of
this great

At a glance at modern society most would say that it is a close to perfect world. On
the contrary, it is far from perfect; this world is full of war, poverty, and disease. But
there more problems on a social level like stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination
causing oppression within society. ... as official policy decision appear to redefine the
importance of human interaction in terms of economic relationship... Ruiz and
Mínguez (2001) observe that such environments prompt immoralities such as poverty,
inequality, and exclusion (qtd. in Lucey, Agnello, and Hawkins 2). Homophobia can
be described as an antipathy towards homosexual individuals. Those individuals are
subjected to prejudice, stereotypes, and discrimination in their social and political
lives. From the foreword of The Bluest Eye by Toni Moorison, Moorison states There
can t be anyone, I am sure, who doesn t know what it feels like to be disliked, even
rejected, momentarily or for sustained periods of time... It may even be that some of us
know what it is like to be actually hated hated for things we have no control over and
cannot change. Homosexuality has many misconceptions surrounding the lifestyle; from
disease to personality traits. The social life of those individual was not the only thing
affected; their rights as a human being have been restricted. Laws have been made in
certain countries that says a man that has sex with men
