Components Of A Food ( Glanz Et Al
Flavour is the most important attribute that determines the acceptance and desirability
of a food (Glanz et al., 1998). Flavours are generally added to foods to enhance
palatability, replace flavour loss during processing and/or storage, and to impart added
flavour to analogue foods. Hydrolysates of proteins generated by acid, enzymes or
fermentation have a long history of use as taste enhancing and savoury flavouring
materials in the food industry. Besides being important precursors in thermal process
flavourings, proteinhydrolysates are widely used in food products as flavouring
ingredients in their own right. Traditional European cuisine often incorporates
hydrolysates of soy, wheat, meat and fish for the preparation of soups and gravies, while
fermented seasonings such as soy sauce, soybean paste and fish sauce are prevalent in
East Asian cuisine (Neklyudov et al., 2000).
Hydrolysed vegetable protein (HVP) is a savoury flavouring agent used to impart
authentic bouillon like characteristics and round off the taste of culinary preparations
and ready to cook products (Aaslyng et al., 1999). Unlike fermented seasonings, HVP is
produced by acid and enzymatic hydrolyses. The raw material, nature of hydrolysis and
subsequent refinement determine individual flavour characteristics of hydrolysates.
Degradation products may also function as flavour precursors in the Maillard reaction
occurring during hydrolysis. Common plant protein sources include wheat, soy, maize,
rice and

Trophies aren t for Everyone

(An analysis of, if trophies should be given to everyone )

Society has shifted in the way competition has worked, and will continue to change its
beliefs in how we should treat competition in young people. Is it really necessary that
every participant should receive a trophy? Or should only those that accomplished the
goal, earn one? In today s youth activities, it has become an American tradition, to award
all those that participate in the activity, whether they win or not. This is perhaps a
decision that many have faced, but in reality it will teach the children about life.
Because life isn t always fair, and there s nothing more atrocious than giving a child a
trophy for everything they do.
So now the question, Should kids get a trophy for participation? All in all, I oppose to
the fact that kids should earn a trophy for participating. For example, take the coach of
a soccer team, he should honor his team with treats after a well played season, but not
trophies. Trophies are a sign of accomplishment, and if a child gave the coach a terrible
attitude, then they shouldn t deserve one. It is as well as a little excessive. If you

The main focus should be to learn how to play sports, how to listen to a coach and be
part of a team. That in fact is very true. Sports are important, but one will not always
have them in life. Being a loser isn t always necessary a bad thing. If you are given a
trophy for everything you do, you will not learn how it feels to lose. Losing makes
people want to improve in what they aren t successful in. This therefore is a motivator in
what they want to be fortunate in and continue to strive in
My First Basketball Game Analysis
Are team made it to the finals. We worked so hard throughout the season and it all
came down to this one game. The ref did our gear check to make sure no one was
cheating. The ref asked us for a game ball and we gave one to him. We took the field and
it was time to play. The ref took the game ball and put it down. He blew the whistle and
we all knew this was the biggest gameof our lives.

The ref blew the whistle and we were off. It started off clean but the intensity was
high. Nobody was afraid to get the ball. We gave it our all, 100% all the way. Later on
during the game nobody had scored it was about 10 minutes till halftime and we were
pressing are offensive formation. I got the ball on a through ball and I was running
down the center field to the goal. The defender was right behind me looking to make
the challenge. I winded up my foot and struck the ball but it just hit wide and the
defender made the challenge and I was on the ground. Near the end of the half both
teams were looking to get a lead. Lots of chances were made but none went in.

The referee blew the half time whistle. It was Zero to Zero still and both teams were at
each other s necks. Our coach sat us down and we were all pounding water. Our coach
started his halftime talk. He took ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Compare And Contrast Hardin And Swift
Garrett Hardin and Jonathan Swift have different views on helping the poor. Although
they grew up in different centuries, Hardin is against and Swift is for helping the
poor. People are going to continue to be poor if they depend on someone else to help
them. The ones living in poverty have the potential to do great things if they put forth
the effort. Hardin and Swift s opinions differ on whether or not it is the peoples fault for
being poor, the limited resources toward helping the poor and if it is too late to help them.
When a country is poor the people blame others for their poverty. Hardin believes that
the poor are lazy and they rely on government assistance. The poor has the ability to get a
job, but they do not put effort into searching for one. On the other hand, Swift blames the
politicians and English for their poverty in Ireland. Swift thinks that it isn t the poor s
fault and if they could get a job, they would.

Hardin states an example, a nation s land has a limited capacity to support a
population and as the current energy crisis has shown us, in some ways we have
already exceeded the carrying capacity of our land .(Hardin 169) It is believed by
Hardin that there is limited resources and if we helped the poor it would be ineffective.
In contrast, Swift thinks that limited resources are not an issue. In Swift s A Modest
Proposal , he says that the children, who are of poor decent, use them as income for the
poor and the children will be a commodity for the rich. Swift did not literally mean for
this to happen but that the proposal to sell the children was absurd and the rich would do

Food Pollution
Recently, water and food pollution are the important global concern in environmental
protection and human health due to their numerous harmful activities. There are many
pollutants producing by human day by day including nitrate, fluoride, pesticides,
mercury, lead, arsenic, and nitrite resulting from oil spills, burning of the fossil fuels,
dumping waste and sewage of factories, and etc. Among them, nitrite was widely used in
the food industry, pharmaceutical and agriculture as an additive in foods due to improve
color and flavor, preservative in meat products due to its antimicrobial property,
therapeutics and fertilizer. In addition, it was found in vegetables and water by using the
nitrate fertilizers and from natural nitrogencycle process as a major active intermediate ion
of this cycle producing by reduction of nitrate or oxidation of ammonia. Nitrate has an
important role in the formation of N nitrosamines, hazardous compounds to human
health, leading to be carcinogens. For example, nitrite reacts easily with amide and amine
of foods in the stomach to generate N nitrosamines, resulting in Blue Baby Syndrome,
bowel and stomach cancer, and/or bind to hemoglobin of blood, producing
methemoglobin who reduces the oxygentransport capability in human blood which
causes the leukemia and brain tumor. The permissible concentration of nitrite in water
according World Health Organization is about 3 mg L 1 1. Therefore, the accurate
quantitative monitoring of nitrite
