The chart illustrates the numbers of Underground Station passenger in London from 6 am to 10 pm. The
total number of commuters is varied from time to time over a day.

There are 100 passengers at 6.00, this number increase sharply to its highest point at 400 passengers,
then fall rapidly to approximately 190 passengers at 10.00. From 10.00 to 14.00, there is a slight rise to
300 commuters. After that, the number of commuters drops to its lowest point at 100 passengers at
16.00 which is the same as its starting point at 6.00. At 18.00 the number of passengers reaches the
second highest point at about 380 passengers, while after that it falls again to 120 passengers at 20.00
and rises slightly to 160 before it decreases to 150 at 22.00.

The given line graph shows data on the number of underground station passengers of London
city from 6:00 am till 10:00 pm. As is observed from the graph, the highest number of people
use the underground stations of London at 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

(example)
At 6:00 am around 100 underground passengers can be found at the stations and this number
increases seamlessly until 8:00 am when the passengers' number reaches to 400. After 8:00
am the number declines steadily until 10:00 am when it reaches around 180. The number keeps
fluctuating until 4:00 pm and on an average 200 passengers can be observed during this period.
After 4:00 pm the passenger number increases and reaches at 380 at around 6:00 pm. After
6:00 pm, the passenger number decreases with some fluctuations until 10:00 pm.

In summary, the highest number of passengers of London underground stations can be found in
the stations during the office going and office leaving times in a day.

II. Bar Graph

The bar graph shows the percentage of waste disposal in Toronto, Madrid, Kuala Lumpur, and Amman
by using four different treatment processes such as landfill, inceneration, recycling, and composting. The
number of total waste in the four cities that disposed is in the range of 0 to 80%.
Overall, the preferance of waste disposal is vary from one city to another. Landfill is the most popular
treatment method in Toronto and Amman, while in Madrid and Kuala Lumpur, incineration is more
common to use compare to other disposal method.

The highest percentage of total waste that recycled happen in Madrid at about 22%, slightly higher than
Kuala Lumpur with the percentage around 21%. The recycling method is the third most popular among
other disposal method, after landfill and incenaration. The lowest percentage of waste disposal among
the four cities are using composting method, with no more than 10% waste proccessed by composting
method.

Example

The bar chart depicts four types of waste disposal in four cities. Landfill was the most popular
method of waste disposal in Toronto and Amman. Toronto used landfill for disposing of about
three-quarters of its waste with the remaining quarter split between incineration, recycling and
composting.

Amman used landfill for disposing of almost half of its waste with most of the rest being
incinerated. Incineration was the most popular method of waste disposal in Madrid and Kuala
Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur disposed of more than half its waste by incineration with less than one quarter
going for recycling and even less still going for landfill and composting. Recycling was the
second least popular method of waste disposal.

No cities disposed of more than 25% of its waste by recycling and in the case of Toronto, it was
less than 10%. Composting was the least common method of waste disposal. No cities
disposed of more than 10% of its waste by compositing and Amman hardly did any composting.

III. Diagram
The picture illustrates how people who live in Australian town collects rainwater for drinking water
usage. Before the rainwater can be consumed by the residents, it must goes through several treatment
process.

Initially, when the rainwater comes, the water falls from the rooftop through a pipe, flowing into the
drain and reach the water filter. In this place, rainwater is filtered from its contaminant before it
collected in the water storage. After that, the rainwater goes into water treatment unit, where it is
treated with chemicals. Rainwater that has been treated by those processes will be distributed to each
house through the pipeline system. Residents in Australian town consume the treated water through
the tap installed in each of their houses. Finally, people in the Australian town can enjoy the water for
daily consumption.

To sum up, for the rainwater has to be processed by being filtered and being treated with chemicals
before consumed as drinking water.

IV. Bar Chart & Pie Chart

The two charts above ilustrates the education level for people in Glasgow in 2010. The bar graph
compares the education level by the age range while the pie chart compares the education level by
gender without considering the age group.

Overall, people in the age range of 24-35 have the highest education level at 76% having university
degree, while the lowest education levels experienced by people over 75 years old with just 25%
university degree achieved. Based on the gender, men tend to has higher education levels, with 32% of
men had a university degree, while only 25% women had university degree.

There are 20% people in the age range of 16-24, 35-50, and 50-75 who had school of certificate in 2010.
This percentage is the highest among all of age ranges, while the age range 24-35 and age range over 75
only had 15% and 3% of people with school certificate respectively. The portion between men and
women who had a school certificate is the same.

The highest percentage of ‘no qualification’ education levels happened to people over 75 years old with
the percentage of 72%. The ‘no qualification’ education levels of women are reported to be higher than
men, with 3% difference.
V. Line Graph

The line graph depicts the proportion of people over 4-years old who watch tv and listen to radio in the
24 hours period, in the UK from October to December 1992.

Overall, the majority of people watched tv in the evening while most of people listened to the radio in
the morning. Over 24 hours period, there were more people watching tv than listening to the radio.

People who watches TV is fluctuating during the day. The number who watches TV rapidly increases in
the evening started at around 17.00. it reaches its highest pecentage that people watches TV at around
19.00 and gradually decreases after 21.00.

Regarding the TV, at 1 am there were around 6% people who watched tv and it’s gradually decereased
to its lowest point at 12.00 with 4% population, before it reached its peak at 9 pm with about 45%
people watching TV. After that time, there was a sharp fall in audiences to below 20% by midnight.

While more people watcehs TV in the evening, more people listen to the radio in the morning according
to the line graph. The number of people listen to radio start rising at 06.00 and reaches its peak point at
around 09.00. after 09.00, people who listen to radio goes down continuosly until midnight.

Similary, the percentage of radio listeners also began low at about 4% listeners. This number remained
steady until 6 am and rose suddenly to its peak of approximately 25% population. From that point, the
percentage of listeners fluctuated in a gradual downward trend to 5% at the end of the day.

This line chart illustrates how many inquiries received by the tourist information office by letter/email,
telephone, and in person from January to June in the year 2011. This enquires numbers was ranged
from 200 to 2000.

Overall, there was a gradual increase in the number of inquires by phone as well as by directing to the
customers. On contrary, the letter/email inquiries show a downward trend from January to May and
stayed the same until June.

Regarding the inquiry in person, it started with around 400 inquiries at January and this number
considerably rose to reached a peak at about 1900 in June 2011. This trend is similar with the inquiry by
telephone, except its slightly dip from 900 to 800 at the second month and reach a pleateau at 1000
from May to April before it grew again to hit the highest point at 1600 at the last month. Meanwhile, the
inquiry by letter/email steadily dropped from around 750 to almost 400 in the first four months and
remain unchanged for the next month.

Writing task 2

It is said that only authorities and huge businesses can improve the environment, while individuals can
do nothing to make a difference. In my opinion, all people in the world could do something to make our
environment better, both as individuals as well as governments and large companies. For that reason, I
totally disagree with the statement above.

There is no doubt that our environmental quality is continuously degrading all the time due to human’s
activities, such as deforestation, unmanaged waste dumping, factories, the usage of vehicles, and so on.
It is true that governments with their regulations and actions could control these activities to minimize
its impact on the environment. In addition, big companies could also use their CSR to make some
projects that improve the environmental quality.

However, individuals could also contribute to make a better environment by taking simple actions with a
large impact if it is done together with other individuals. For instance, by reducing the usage of plastic
bags, a person could minimize the number of plastic bags that usually end up in the ocean. Imagine if
this action is done by many people around the world, it certainly would give a significant result and
eventually would lead to a cleaner ocean. Another simple action is to minimize the use of paper, so it
would reduce the number of trees being cut to produce paper. These actions clearly would have a bigger
result if the authorities and large businesses work together to lead these actions. Nevertheless, it
doesn’t mean that individuals can do nothing to contribute to the improvement of environment.

In conclusion, simple actions from individuals would clearly give impacts in the improvement of
environment if it is done together. Moreover, the intervention of governments and companies would
give a larger impact of these actions.

Writing task 2

It is thought by some people that the most important thing to think about when purchasing product or
service is its cost. In my opinion, the price of product or service is often shows its quality, thus I certainly
agree with this statement.

When it comes to purchasing a product such as handphone, lots of choices of phones make us have to
choose one of them with some considerations. Price, as I mentioned above to be the most important
thing to consider, often shows the quality of the cellphone. For instance, ‘samsung’ cell phones have
variety of price according to their specifications, as the phone with higher specification costs higher than
another. However, it doesn’t mean that cell phone with the highest price is the best for us. We also have
to consider our needs and our financial capability in purchasing the phone.

The other example is if we go to the doctor to receive the medical treatment, surely we want the best
service, and price is one of the factor that important to be thought. In my experience, going to a low
priced clinic is often gave me less service quality than go to the higher priced clinic. One of the factor
that maybe caused this to happen is that low priced clinic often has a lot of patients but lack of staff to
assist those patients. Therefore, I prefer to go to higher priced clinic with good services.
To sum up, if we are going to purchase something such as handphone or having a medical treatment
service, price is really important to consider to show us the quality that we need. However, we also have
to consider our financial capability of buying the product or service.

The table shows the number of UK residents traveled abroad that divided into four reasons for traveling
in the year of 1994 to 1998, while the bar chart illustrates their traveling destination within the same
period.

Overall, the main reason for traveling abroad is to have a holiday with Western Europe as the most
favorite destination to travel and North America is the least preferred destination during the period. In
addition, the number of people going abroad considerably increased over the time.

In 1994, the total number of residents visited abroad is 22,072, this number slightly decreased to 21,610
in 1995 and rose significantly to reach its peak at 28,828 in 1998 with business and visiting friends &
relatives were the second and third main reason to travel.
The bar graph gives almost the same trend as the table, with the lowest number of people traveled
abroad happened in 1995 and the highest happened in 1998. In 1998, there were about 24000 residents
traveled to Western Europe, 2000 residents visited North America, and around 2500 people went to
other areas.

Some people think that it is important to use leisure time for activities that

p.4 In conclusion,
Answer:
In general, leisure time is something that people wait for after spending full weeks of
working. The way of spending the leisure time depends on each person itself. It is
believed by some people that using free time by doing something that improves mind is
important, while some others think that relaxing mind is more important to do in the
leisure time.
Personally speaking, I prefer to spend my free time with activities that relax my mind
rather than doing something that maybe useful for learning yet stressing me out. There
are many ways that can be used to relaxing my mind such as watching movies,
spending a day out with family and friends, or even spending a day at a spa resort. By
spending this kind of free time, I would feel recharged on Monday when I have to go
back to work.
On the other hand, using leisure time to do activities that improving mind would also
beneficial for some people. By doing these sort of activities for instance reading or doing
word puzzles, we could get new knowledge that might be useful in the future.
Furthermore, working on word puzzles could increase our brain IQ so that it would help
us to have a faster understanding in certain cases. Nevertheless, it also could stress
your brain out when you spend too much time on these certain activities.
In conclusion, having a leisure time with some improving mind activities would enhance
our knowledge and mind. However, it is best not to spend too much time on this kind of
activities as I personally think that relaxing mind is much more important than improving
mind on this occasion.

The provided table gives data of sales during lunch and dinner time at a small
restaurant in a business district on the second week of October. Overall, it can be seen
that both dinner sales and lunch sales are fluctuative throughout the week, with dinner
sales are always higher than lunch sales.
On Monday, the transaction from the lunch time resulting 2400 USD. This amount
gradually increase and reach its peak on Wednesday with the sales of 2595 USD. The
next day, the lunch sales decreases considerably until Sunday with the sales of 1550
USD.
On the other hand, the restaurant gets 3623 USD in the Monday dinner time. This
amount of sales keeps fluctuated with the highest sales of 4350 USD on Friday and the
lowest sales happen on Saturday with 2900 USD sales.
To sum up, the restaurant always get higher sales in dinner time rather than in the lunch
time.
There is growing evidence that man-made activities are making global
temperatures higher.
What might be the man-made causes of temperatures rising? How should we deal
with this problem?

P1. Nowadays, our world seems to be hotter than before, as the increasing number of
evidences shows that human activities are the one that cause this problem. There might
be several activities that cause the temperature rising such as illegal logging and the
growing number of factories and also vechicle usage. Therefore, it needs a concrete
solution to slove this issue.
P2. Cutting down the trees, depending on vehicles, increasing number of factories,
causing air pollution, co2,
P3. Solution -> reforestation, improve public transportation and encourage using bike
P4. Conclusion
Answer:
Nowadays, our world seems to be hotter than before, as the increasing number of
evidence shows that human activities are the one that causes temperature rising. There
might be several activities that cause this problem, such as illegal logging and vehicle
usage.
Firstly, as the needs of human products continuously increasing over time, the demand
of the raw material such as woods rises as well. As a result, the number of trees being
cut to fulfill the demand also increase over time, not to mention some greedy company
that doing illegal logging to escalate their income. The degradation of forest area leads
to a condition where our earth losses its capability to absorb the CO2. Therefore, the
CO2 is saturated on the atmosphere which caused the rise of temperature.
Furthermore, the modern society habit where people relying too much on the private
transportation such as car and motorcycle create an upward trend of motor-vehicles
usage throughout the years. This situation clearly also plays a big role in the emition of
CO2 into the atmosphere.
In this case, it is essential to find a great solution to minimize the impact of man-made
activities to the environment. The reforestration is one of the solutions to rise the forest
area in our world. In addition, improvement of public transportation and encouraging
people to use bicycle could becomes good solutions too minimize the car and bike
usage. Therefore, these actions might be reduce the emition of CO2 into the
atmosphere.
In conclusion, the temperature rising could be prevent and reduce by doing some
actions such as deforestation, improving the public transportation, or encouraging
people to use bicycle to transport.

Task I

The table above depicts and compares the trends of five major fast food types
consumed in Melbourne in the past, present and future time. In 2005, Most people in
Melbourne ate hamburger, followed by fried chicken with a difference of just 5 units.
This situation remained the same in the present time, with majority of Melbourne
citizens still consume hamburger and followed by fried chicken. However, the number of
hamburger eaten in the present is decreasing compared to numbers of hamburger
eaten in 2005. On the other hand, the number of other types of fast food is increasing,
with the highest rise of fast food types consumes is salad (from 5 to 15 units).
In 2025, it is predicted that hamburger will still leads the fast food consumption trends in
Melbourne, with fried chicken and salad will following on the second and third place. On
the other hand, noodles will be the least favorite fast food options in Melbourne.
To sum up, from 2005 to 2025 fast food consumption trends in Melbourne are gradually
increase over time. Hamburger remains to be the Melbourne citizen’s favorite for fast
food, while noodles become the last option people choose for fast food.
1. Some people say that Ebooks and modern technology will totally replace
traditional newspaper and magazines to what extent do you agree or disagree.

intro: teknologi berkembang pesat providing us new avenues while keeping ourselves
updated with the latest news and current affairs. Therefore, a fair amount of people
believe
I do not completely accord karena baca lewat teknologi punya pros and cons jg akan
bergantung pada siapa yg menggunakan dan dimana
par 1: pros tekno
par 2 kekurangan
in conclusion untuk org usia produktif might menggantikan tp untuk orang tua atau
middle class dan di pedesaan blm menggantikan

In this modern world, technology is flourishing by leaps and bounds, providing us new
avenues while keeping ourselves updated with the latest news and current affairs.
Therefore, a fair amount of people believe that conventional ways of reading newspaper
and magazines will be completely taken over by modern technology. I do not totally
accord with this view because technology will not only bring benefits, but also has some
drawbacks. Moreover, the preference for reading news via gadget or hard-books will
depends on who and where the reader is.
To begin with, people who are living in the urban areas where they most of them
working in office that requires them to use gadget in daily activities, getting news
updates through their gadgets consider to be easy and convenient because it can
increase their efficiency in working by only using all-in-one gadget for all of their
activities (working, communicating, and reading news). In addition, today’s gadget is
more handy compared to their ancestors, for example people can find a book-size
gadget like Ipad mini that can fit in perfectly in the pocket. Therefore, city people in
productive age are more likely to choose catching up the news via their gadgets than
using conventional newspaper or magazine.
Nonetheless, there are some disadvantages of using technology for reading purposes.
Gadgets will obviously requires electricity to be charged and it costs more than regular
newspaper or magazine. Thus, people who live in rural areas where the electricity
access still limited will find it hard to use technology in their daily live, specifically for
reading news. Moreover, middle to low income people will find difficulty in providing the
technology, so they might choose a hard-copy newspaper and magazine over the online
versions. Senior people who do not used to operate technology might also prefer the
traditional newspaper and magazine, considering it’s easier for them to merely open the
page one to another rather than have to learn new technology.
In conclusion, modern technology will not take over the traditional newspaper and
magazine because there will be several people who might still prefer the conventional
way of reading.
2. Some people believe that teenagers should be required to do unpaid
community work in their free time. This can benefit teenagers and the
community as well.

intro: anak adalah masa depan bangsa. karena itu penting untuk mengembangkan
kemampuan anak sejak dini dan mengajari anak di masy. Therefore there are some
people who believe that youngsters should do unpaid community service in their leisure
time. I, too agree with this view, considering there will be benefits the children as well as
the community
par 1: keuntungan sisi anak
par 2: keuntungan community
par 3: kerugian
conclusion: bisa dilakukan tp harus dikontrol dan diawasi dengan baik

The future of every nation relies on children’s education, not only academic study but
also social experience in the society. Therefore, there are some people who believe that
youngsters have to do community service in their leisure time. I too agree with this view,
considering it will be beneficial for the teenagers as well as the community.
To embark on, social job such as helping golden-ager people in the nursing home,
arranging event to help the needs, or cleaning the neighborhood will require the
teenagers to communicate with diverse people from the junior to the senior age. Hence,
it will raise their communication skills, tolerance, empathies, and so on. Moreover, they
also have to manage their time between school activities and their job, thus it will give
them a great experience and lesson in managing their time, giving them a simulation for
the real life.
Secondly, the community will feel the advantages as well, due to the help from those
youngsters which can reduce the amount spent on community workers. In addition, the
social works would be done faster by the assistance of those children.
In conclusion, command teenagers to do social job can brings positive impacts to the
society as well as the children’s future. Nonetheless, these compulsory jobs might lead
to several problems too, such as children can be stressed if they can’t manage their
time between studies and jobs. Thus, in order to prevent this kind of issue, the works
should be monitored and controlled by adults in the community.
Many athletes use performance enhancing drugs to do better in sports events, and gain
the benefits of making money. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
intro paraphrasing + benefit and drawbacks
vocab: adversely impact
par 1 benefit: competitive sports make big business nowadays, motivate the athlete to
perform better, in some sports, tall people have specialized body that give them
privilege in winning the match, give ultra-endurance, gain financial incentives, raising
the athletic performance in competitive sports.
par 2 drawbacks: adversely impact the body lead to several disease such as kidney
stone or even heart and kidney failure. if the truth comes out, ruin the image of the
athlete
conclusion the drawbacks outweigh the benefit
Nowadays, competitive sports has become a big business in the world, thus athletes
are competing to be the best player, not only to become famous but also to gain
financial benefits. Therefore, a number of athletes use doping in order to enhance their
performance. In the following paragraphs, I shall discuss the advantages as well the
disadvantages of performance enhancing drugs consumption.
To embark on, doping has already known for its ability to increase the adrenaline in the
human’s body, giving the athletes ultra-endurance while doing match. Thus, they can
perform better or even winning the game and gain financial incentives. Moreover, in
some sports like basketball, tall players have the privileges for their specialized body,
hence other players without this privilege might find another way to win the match,
doping is no exception.
Nonetheless, this kind of drugs also come with several issues. Consuming doping
frequently can lead to serious health problem such as kidney failure, heart failure, or
even death. Consequently, this action is strictly prohibited in all kind of sports
championships. People who violate this rules can be disqualified from the match and
get serious punishment. For example, in Olympics 2021, Russia is found out allowing
their athletes to use doping before the match, therefore the officials give the serious
penalties by not showing the country’s name in the Olympics.
In conclusion, the drawbacks in consuming doping outweigh the benefits considering
athletes who use drugs can get life-threatening diseases. Moreover, if the society find
out, it can ruin the player’s image and also the country reputation.
The line graph above compares thermal conductivity of material at 25 C between 5 types of substances,
which are acetals, acetone, acetylene (gas), acrylic, and air. In this following paragraphs, I shall explain
the comparison of those materials capability in transferring the heat.

From this chart, it is clearly seen that heat can transfer faster through acetone, with the conductivity of
1600 W/m-K. The second highest thermal conductivity happens through acetylene (gas) with the rate
approximately 1550 W/m-K, slightly higher than acetals compound with 1500 W/m-K. By contrast, heat
that transferred to acrylic material have the slowest rate at about 1350 W/m-K, while the air is in the
second position of the lowest material thermal conductivity with just around 1450 W/m-K.

To sum up, the rate of heat travel through several materials at 25 appears to vary quite widely, with the
highest thermal conductivity of material is acetone and the lowest heat travel rate happens in acrylic.
It is a common viewpoint in today’s society that someone who has been labeled as a
criminal for committing illegal activity is unable to change his or her identity and will
always be considered a criminal. Does this viewpoint align with yours? Support your
argument with specific reasoning.
intro
par 1 prison providing some extracurricular activities that prepare convict, criminal, inmate,

e.g crafting, construction work, painting, writing
religious approach  repent for their sins
par 2 mereka hrs nunjukin perubahannya ke masy
kl tidak cnth case narkoba  akan balik lagi ke penjara
conclusion, bisa diterima depend on former prisoner action

Nowadays, former prisoners often not being accepted in the society due to the usual opinion
that a lawbreaker is unable to change his or her identity and will forever be a criminal. I strongly
disagree with this opinion, despite there might be several cases that make most people don’t
accept the ex-convicts in the neighborhood. In the following paragraph, I shall explain my
reasoning in my opposed opinion.
To embark on, in this modern world, inmates are being well-treated as a human being, there is
no more violent punishment from the authorities or being locked until they are losing their mind
as it happened in dungeon during colonial era. Besides providing basic needs such as food and
health facilities, today’s prisons often giving a number of extracurricular activities in order to
prepare the inmates to live in the society after they get released. These activities include
crafting, painting, or even construction works. It is hoped that the prisoners will be financially
independent once they get out of the jail. This program is already well-proven in one of the
prisons in Indonesia where there are few people who get the opportunity to learn painting,
eventually they can sell those paintings to the market all around the world and gain financial
benefit. In addition, some facilities also give religious approach to the inmates, hence a number
of criminals repent for their sins and committed to be a better person. Therefore, if these
programs success, the convicts will have better personalities and skills after the release.
On the other hand, these programs may not be affected for all of the inmates, as many criminals
still run their illegal business from the jail, such as drug trading. In this case, they will continue
their action even after the get released.
In conclusion, the acceptance of former prisoners in the society will also depend on their actions
toward people. If they can prove themselves to be useful and not making problems, the people
certainly will get along with them. Nonetheless, if they make the same mistakes, they will lose
the citizens’ trust and might not be accepted in the society forever.
6. When a country develops its technology, the traditional skills and ways of life
die out. It is pointless to try and keep them alive.
Do you agree and disagree with this statement?

intro
par 1 benefit keeping the traditional way: preserve the culture

Technology has been flourishing by leaps and bounds in this today’s era, where it is
undoubtedly become the basic need for people, from simply doing the everyday activity to
performing certain specialized actions such as surgery or creating new products. Hence, this
rapid development is taking over the conventional ways to live. A number of people believe that
trying to preserve traditional skills is not essential. However, I strongly opposed this point of
view as some activities are way much better done by the conventional way as it has been taught
long ago by our ancestors. In the following paragraph, I shall discuss my opinion regarding this
issue.
To begin with, there are a number of skills that have been inherited from generation to
generation, such as crafting and cooking. These activities were not just a simple way to fulfill the
needs, but they also contain certain values and cultures. Therefore, substituting these skills with
technology will certainly cost the values and cultures. To subsequent my believe, a well-known
‘batik’ fabric from Indonesia has a wide range of prices due to the technical difference in making
the cloth. Batik fabrics that are processed by machine are cheaper compared to those handy-
crafted at home, owing to the fact that home-made batik fabrics have their own values and
uniqueness, where it comes with specialized skills that no technology can imitate, thus the
selling price is much higher in Indonesia, or even in the worldwide. Apart from this, in the
cooking world, a distinguished chef will surely prefer the traditional way of making pasta to the
modern way by using instant pasta due to the better taste and texture, thus the traditional pasta-
making will resulting tastier cuisines.
In conclusion, these examples provided above prove that not all technology can take the place
of the conventional way of living, considering it can’t give the identical result from doing it by the
traditional way.

Write at least 150 words.

The line graph above illustrates the trend of visitor depart to and arrive from UK for 20 years
period of time, while the bar graph depicts the favorite countries visited by British people on
1999. Overall, it can be clearly seen that the number of travelling to and from UK increased
throughout the time, where France became the most frequent destination to be visited.
To begin with, the number of departure from UK by the local residents was always higher than
the number of arrival in Britain by foreign residents. From 1979 the number of travels to and
from UK was almost the same, at around 10 to 12 millions people. After that, there was a slight
raise until 1986, where approximately 12 millions overseas tourist came to the UK and 20
millions British residents went abroad. After that, the number of travels from and to UK was
raised significantly, reaching its peak at almost 29 millions of visitors landed on UK and around
52 millions of local people leaving the country.
By far the most popular countries to visit in 1999 by British resident was France, with the
number of travelers went there almost 12 millions of people. This popular destination was
followed by several countries such as Spain, USA, and Greece with visitor numbers are 9,3, and
2.8 respectively. Turkey became the least choice of countries to be travelled to with only about 2
millions visitors from the UK.

The pie chart shows the percentage of persons arrested in the five years ending
1994 and the bar chart shows the most recent reasons for arrest.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and
make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.
The pie chart illustrates the proportion of men and women being arrested from 1989 to 1994,
while the bar chart compares the most frequent arrest causes between the two genders.
Overall, it can be clearly seen from the graph that there were more males being arrested than
females with the most recent arrest reason being public drinking.
To begin with, nearly three-quarters of men were arrested, whereas only a small minority of
women were being arrested. However, there were more females being arrested for public
drinking than males, with the percentage of approximately 37% while the proportion of males
being arrested was just nearly a third. Breach of order, assault, and theft had almost the same
portion of males arrest reason, with the percentage respectively were around 18%, 17%, and
16%. As for females, breach of order and theft has the same percentage at about 12,5%. On
the other hand, no answer became the least reason for the most recent arrests with just an
insignificant minority being arrested due to the no answer reasons.
To conclude, the causes for women and men being arrested were varied, however, the
percentage of males being arrested always outweighs the females' proportions in every arrested
cause, except for public drinking, and assault.

The table illustrates the proportion of school children attending several types of middle schools
from 2000 to 2009. Overall, it is evident from the table that community schools had increased
significantly, while the others had a decline trend over the 3 years period. Moreover, community
schools had the most rapid improvement in terms of attendance rates in the period of time,
while the specialist schools had the least rapid change in school attendance rates over the
same period.
To begin with, in 2000, there was only a small minority of 12% pupils attending community
schools. However, this proportion was raised considerably to just over a half of the total pupils in
2009. On the other hand, voluntary-controlled schools were the most favor school to be
attended in 2000. Nonetheless, the percentage was declined to only 20% in 2009. Over the
same period, the grammar schools and the specialist schools also experienced similar
downward trends, with the percentage of attendance in grammar schools dropped by half from
nearly a quarter to just 12%, although the specialist schools only had a slight fall from 12% to
just 10%.
The map compares the development of Meadowside and Fonton, which is a neighbor town on
the east of Meadowside on the three different period of times (1962, 1985, and present).
Overall, there has been a considerable development on both towns over the period given.
On 1962, Meadowside Village and Fonton were completely separated, where there was no
connecting way to travel from one town to another. While Fonton already had railway crossing
through the town to the north, Meadowside Village only had a small road from the west to the
north. Moreover, there was not any facility or building available back then in Meadowside
Village.
On 1985, there had been a significant improvement regarding the transport system and
infrastructures. Meadowside Village and Fonton had already been connected by road, where
the small road in Meadowside Village had already developed to the main road. In addition,
Meadowside Village had also housing estate and leisure complex on the west. There was also a
superstore, which was located on the opposite of housing estate, to the south.
At the present day, Meadowside has become suburbs, which already joined with Fonton. To
travel to Fonton, Meadowside residents are now have two options, travel by car through the
main road or taking the train from the station, which located on the opposite of the business
park. Besides train station and hotel, there is now a hotel on the north of station.

The diagram illustrates the process that is used to manufacture bricks for the
building industry.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and
make comparisons where relevant.
Write at least 150 words.

The diagram explains the process of brick manufacturing for the construction business. Overall, there
are seven steps needed in order to produce bricks from scratch to the final delivery.

To begin with, clay is dug up by the large digger which then being placed onto the metal grid. After that,
the clay is shifted by the metal grid to get a certain size and texture of the soil. A roller assists in this
process. Following this, the clay is mixed with sand and water before being shaped by a specified mould
or wire cutter and become the bricks.

In the subsequent stage, the bricks are dried in the oven for one until two days. Next, the bricks go into
the kilns with 2 different types of temperatures. The first kiln burns the bricks at 200C to 980C and the
second kiln giving the heat of 870C to 1300C to the bricks. To reduce the heat from the previous
process, the bricks then go through the cooling chamber for about 48 to 72 hours before being packed.
Finally, the bricks that has been packed are delivered to the customers by truck.

The illustrations show how chocolate is produced.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and
make comparisons where relevant.

The diagram explains how the chocolate is made from the cacao tree to become liquid chocolate.
Overall, there are ten stages in the process, beginning with harvesting the cacao pods until being
processed in the factory.

To begin, the cocoa comes from the cacao tree, which is grown in the South America, Africa, and
Indonesia. The cacao pods that are already ripe and red are harvested from the cacao tree. After that,
the white cocoa beans from the harvested pods are fermented in a storage box. Following this, the
beans are spread in a large tray and heated in the sun until it turns dry. Then, the dry beans are placed
in large sacks and transported to the factory by train or lorry.
In the factory, the beans are roasted at 350C and crushed by a rotating machine in order to get the
outer shell removed. Finally, to produce the liquid chocolate, the inner part of the beans is pressed by a
machine that separates the liquid from the solid part of the beans.

Essay 1 :
Doing an enjoyable activity with a child can develop better skills and more
creativity than reading. To what extent do you agree? Use reasons and specific
examples to explain your answer.

Childhood is one of the foremost stages in people lives, therefore it is essential to develop skills
and creativity during this period. It is believed that accompanying a child to do a joyful activity
can promote better skills and more creativity compares to reading. I am a strong advocate with
this approach, and the benefits of it will be covered in the following paragraphs.
To embark on, having a well literacy skills is clearly beneficial on people’s life, thus there are a
number of parents who encourage their offspring to read even at the early age. However,
forcing the children to read can surely have some drawbacks, for example children who read
books without their own willingness can get stress and feel tortured. Thus, it can be harmful to
their mental health, or even worse their physical health, owing to the fact that some children
refuse to eat when they are not in the mood.
On the other hand, parents who share a quality time with their offspring by doing the fun
activities together like crafting, playing football, or playing hide and seek will have a closer bond
to their children, compares to parents who just order the youngsters to read books. Moreover,
this kind of playful activities are not only meant to lift up the children’s mood, but it also can be
the opportunity for them to learn new skills. For example, when the parents ask their children to
coloring the pictures together, it can increases their creativity as well as their skills of art. In
addition, doing simple daily task together such as watering plants can also give them a new
knowledge regarding how the plants should be taken care. it also can improve their motoric
ability by lifting the hose and direct it to certain areas. Furthermore, the children will not only
improve their skills but also learn problem solving if there is an obstacles during their activity, for
example when the hose is off from the water tap, they have to put it back on to the water tap.
In conclusion, the drawbacks of children’s reading at the early age outweighs its benefits, owing
to the fact that children can get a serious mental and physical problem if they are pushed to
read. Therefore, doing enjoyable activity is much better and will have a considerable benefits
such as the improvement of skills and creativity.

The given chart compares the trends of spreads consumption over the 26 years period time. Generally
speaking, it can be clearly seen that these 3 different types of spreads had distinct trends from one to
another.

To begin, at the start of the period, a majority of people consumed butter spread with approximately
140 grams butter spread consumption, while the margarine consumption was lower than butter
consumption, at only about 95 grams. On the other hand, low fat & reduced spreads had not been
known until 1996. The consumption rate of butter was then rose to its peak from 1981 to 1986.
Following this, the number fell gradually to just around 50 grams in 2007.

As for the margarine, from 1981 to 2001, it had a moderately changes before it dropped a half rapidly
from 2001 to 2007. On the contrary, in 1996, the low fat & reduced spreads were just introduced and
had not become popular, with just nearly 10 grams consumption at that year. However, the
consumption rate increased significantly to just over 80 grams a year, before it slightly reduced to about
75 grams a year in 2007.

Alt 2

The line graph illustrates the amount of three kinds of spread (margarine, butter and low fat and
reduced spreads) which were consumed over 26 years from 1981 to 2007. Units are measure in grams.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that the consumption of butter and margarine declined over the period
given, while for low fat and reduced spreads, it rose. At the start of the period, butter was the most
popular spread, which was replaced by margarine from 1991 to 2001, and following that low fat and
reduced spreads became the most widely used spread in the final years.

With regards to the amount of butter used, it began at around 140 grams and then peaked at 160 grams
in 1986 before dropping dramatically to about 50 grams in the last year. Likewise, approximately 90
grams of margarine was eaten in the first year after which the figure fluctuated slightly and dropped to a
low of 40 grams in 2007.

On the other hand, the consumption of low fats and reduced spreads only started in 1996 at about 10
grams. This figure, which reached a high of just over 80 grams 5 years later, fell slightly in the final years
to approximately 70 grams in 2007.
Essay 2 :

Improvements in health, education and trade are essential for the

development of poorer nations. However, the governments of richer nations should
take more responsibility for helping the poorer nations in such areas. To what
extent
do you agree?
In this modern world, where technology has already been surrounding us in daily life, not all
countries have been well developed. In fact, in third-world countries, many aspects such as
health care, education, and trade still need some improvements. On the other hand, it is
believed that first-world countries are required to provide aids in those areas. I, too agree with
this point of view and I shall discuss my opinion in the following paragraphs.
To embark on, I once had envisioned that one day our world in the future will be better like a
utopia, where there will be no gap of prosperity among people across every nation. Therefore, I
believe it is important for the richer country to take some actions in order to boost the poorer
countries' performances in the trade as well as health and education services. Furthermore, the
improvement in health, education, and trade will not only raise the economic growth but also
can improve the quality of human resources in the developing countries as it can give the
people prosperity, therefore it will lead to a better world.
Moreover, all of the countries in this world are relied on each other, owing to the fact that
international trading between the rich and the poor countries is extremely essential for the
world’s finances. Thus, it is absolutely important for all countries to help each other, especially
when it comes to other countries' primary needs. To subsequent my view, a majority of
developed countries are depend on the developing countries, one of the examples is in the
fashion industry, where a number of fashion businesses are having factories in the third world
countries such as Indonesia and Vietnam. These countries mostly preferred because of their
cheaper labor and production costs. Consequently, there has to be a bilateral agreement
between those two countries in order to give the poorer countries benefits.
In conclusion, all of the countries should go hand in hand in this world in order to give people’s
welfare for a better world.
Essay 3 :
Nowadays most green energy is becoming ever more prevalent in both
developed and developing countries. Some argue they greatly reduce costs and are
better for the environment, others believe they are a serious threat to energy
security.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
In this fast-moving world, where technology has been flourishing by leaps and bounds,
electricity has become the foremost need in every country. As the consequence of the declining
amount of coals and crude oils, the most common fuels in conventional power plants, clean
energy is now becoming more popular in both first world countries as well as third world
countries. Some people believe that this alternative energy is cheaper and better for nature,
while others estimate that it can gives an adverse impact on energy security. In the following
paragraphs, I shall discuss both views and explain my opinion.
To embark on, unlike the traditional energy production system such as coal power plant, clean
energy technology can generate electricity from wind, sun, water, or geothermal. In this way, it
will emit far less carbon to the environment than the conventional methods, leading to better air
quality. Moreover, the production fees to operate this plant is greatly cheaper as the green
energy sources are already available on the surface area, thus it doesn’t need investment cost
as it is needed in the traditional plant to mine the coals that have lied beneath the soil.
On the other hand, green energy sources surely depend on the climate and areas, for example,
there will be more powers generated by solar panels in summer compared to winter. Similarly,
the wind power plant also relies on how fast the wind is blowing in a certain area. Thus, the
amount of alternative energy that is produced is hard to be predicted, consequently, it can’t give
energy stability throughout the world. However, if the green power plant is built in the specified
area with certain criteria, I believe it can efficiently produce a great amount of electricity, giving
more stability to power security. For example, solar panels can be built in tropical countries
where the sun exposure is nearly constant throughout the year. Likewise, the hydropower plant
shall be installed at the shores that have high-rate tidal movement.
In conclusion, I believe green energy is more beneficial for people and more environmental-
friendly. However, in order to prevent energy scarcity, every certain type of green power plant
has to be installed in the proper area.
Essay 7 :
These days some people spend a lot of money on tickets to go to sporting or
events. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?
Nowadays, a number of sporting events require people to pay a high price in order to be able to
attend those events. In my point of view, it is a positive development, specifically in businesses
of sports, where certainly would give not only financial benefit but also raise the quality of the
games. In the following paragraphs, I shall discuss my view regarding the advantageous impact
of this matter.
To embark on, in the sports world, higher ticket price means a higher financial gain for the
business. However, it not only benefits the event’s hosts but also the athletes. The profit of the
ticket sales can also be used for several things such as upgrading the training facilities or hiring
a better coach. Thus, it would boost the performance of the players and consequently, it can
level up the game.
To subsequent my view, football match tickets in Indonesia cost more than other sports such as
swimming or fencing. Therefore, football has become the largest sports business in the nation,
leading to better game infrastructures, coaches, and even opportunities to win the
championship. On the other hand, the price should also consider the spectators’ ability to pay,
since if they can’t afford it, there would not be any audience in the match, thus the vibes of the
game would be awful. Moreover, if the ticket price is too expensive, some people might consider
switching to watch another game that is less expensive, hence it can threaten the business.
To conclude, putting a high price on event tickets is certainly a positive development, especially
for economic benefits. Nonetheless, the ticket price should be reasonable and not surpass the
limit of average people’s payment ability.
