1. You’re lucky to be alive. A police car found you lying in the middle of the road on
golden drive.” Comment
A policeman said this to Lenny. He wanted to know what had happened to him as he was
living unconscious in the middle of the street and would have been hit by passing card
and probably killed if the police car hadn’t found him.
2. “I thought the traffic was a dangerous to me.” Comment
Trying to be funny, Lenny said these words to sergeant Murphy when he told him that he
was found in the middle of the road and he was danger to the traffic but Lenny told him
he thought the traffic was danger to him
Chapter 16
tell me the truth
1. What did the owner of Las Cabanas accuse Lenny of?
He accused him of attacking two men at the club and injuring three cooks. He also broke
one hundred plates and table and ruined food worth several dollars.
2. What bargain did Sergeant Murphy have with Lenny?
Lenny was in deep trouble for the damage he had caused in the nightclub he was facing six
months prison at least the sergeant promised to let him go if he told him everything he had
known about Las Cabanas and about Benny Greep.
3. “I’m interested in Las Cabanas and in Benny Greep’s murder.” Comment
Sergeant Murphy said this to Lenny he was interested in the night club as he knew that the club
was owned by criminals but they couldn’t prove that they had broken the law. He also believed
that Benny Greep’s murder was connected with those criminals.

1. What did the New York police tell sergeant Murphy?
The New York police told them that there’s no much person as Helen Garfield and there’s no
one living in New York called Helen Garfield.
2. “We want Elaine Garfield and we think you know where she is” comment
Joe said these words to Lenny Samuel on the phone as he got back to his office. They were
coming to his office to see him. But really, he didn’t know where she is.
