Preface

THE SYSTEM of Biochemic treatment with Schiissler's Twelve Tissue

Remedies seems to be gaining popularity in certain parts of this country.
The author in his earlier life had no interest in the science of medicine
but rather held that it was best left to the medical profession. Man is how-
ever a creature of circumstances and the proved efficacy of the Tissue
Remedies created a strong faith in this system.
The first experience was the wonderful cure of asthma, which prevented
sleep and made the patient sit up in bed the whole night in great distress. A
single dose of one of the Tissue Remedies (Kali phos.), given to the attending
Allopathic physician by a friend, brought instantaneous relief to all the suf-
ferings as if by magic and the patient lay flat and slept without any trouble.
After this occurrence, the author obtained successful results from the
use of these remedies. A whitlow, which had suppurated, had all the pus
absorbed in the course of a night by only two doses of Silicea 6x. Eczema
on the eyebrows yielded quickly to Natrum mur. 3x internally and exter-
nally. Chronic asthma of long standing was relieved bv Biochemic treat-
ment and the patient acknowledged the benefit although he had taken the
medicines without any faith.
Hemiplegia following an apoplectic fit was given up by an allopath as
hopeless and a homeopath would not take up the case and said that noth-
ing short of a miracle could effect a cure. The author came to hear of the
trouble during a visit to the place on some business and advised Kali phos.
3x internally in frequent doses and also locally. The paralyzed arm showed
signs of movement within twenty-four hours and a cure was effected in
three days—the result was miraculous, as admitted by the allopath himself,
when he met the author.

Another case of asthma was promptly relieved by Magnesia phos. 3x.

As the patient was suffering from phthisis, the same remedy with Natrum
phos. was prescribed in frequent doses. After about a month of this treat-
ment, with change of air at a sea-side station, the patient gained in health
and in weight. Subsequently he discontinued the treatment and brought
about a relapse by indiscretion in food.
Another case of asthma of long standing was treated with Magnesia
phos. 3x and Silicea 12x and the action of these remedies was said to be as
prompt as the allopathic injections.
An interesting case deserves special mention, althotigh after the diagno-
sis was made by the author from the tongue symptoms indicated in
Biochemistry, allopathic physicians took it up as a "classical case." Peculiar
complaints, loss of smell, loss of taste, loss of sensibility in the head, were
taken by an eminent allopathic doctor to be due to hysteria. The author
observed cracks on the tongue, which according to Biochemistry are indi-
cations of a deficiency of Calcarea fluor. Starting from the key-notes of that
remedy, tumour or bony growth, the author inferred that there was real
mischief in the cervical spine, where a tumour or bony growth had formed
and exerted pressure at the nerve-roots, thus putting a nerve or nerves out
of action. X-ray photographs were taken and the concluding sentence of the
report was that all the troubles were due to the pressure exerted at the
nerve-roots by the bony growth. It is indeed a marvellous achievement of
Biochemistry that the tongue should tell the tale of a cell-salt deficiency in
the human organism and lead to a correct diagnosis in a difficult case.
In the proper selection of Biochemic remedies, the author had to refer to
several books, most of which were in three parts, Materia Medica,
Therapeutics and Repertory and in order to save time and trouble, he pre-
pared for his personal use a compilation arranged on a rational basis bttt had
no intention of publication. Some of his friends, however, found it useful as
a book of reference and pressed that the public should have the benefit of his
labours and this publication is solely due to the wishes of such friends.
The author acknowledges his indebtedness to the undermentioned
Biochemic and Homeopathic books, from which this book has been
