Types of Cloud

Presented by Daisy Maicon Lobos

INTRODUCTION

Clouds are fascinating formations in the sky

that can greatly influence weather patterns.
They come in various shapes and sizes, each
with its own unique characteristics. In this
presentation, we will explore different types of
clouds.
CIRRUS CLOUD
•Description:

Cirrus clouds are thin, wispy, and high-altitude

clouds that often resemble delicate strands or
feathers.

•Characteristics:

~Altitude: Found at high altitudes, typically above

20,000 feet.
~Appearance: Thin and white, with a fibrous or
feathery texture.
~Weather: Cirrus clouds are usually associated
with fair weather, indicating stable atmospheric
conditions.
CUMULUS CLOUDS

•Description:

Cirrus clouds are thin, wispy, and high-altitude

clouds that often resemble delicate strands or
feathers.

•Characteristics:

~Shape: Rounded, with a flat base and a dome-

shaped top.
~Weather: Cumulus clouds can indicate fair
weather, but if they grow taller and become
darker, they may develop into thunderstorms.
CIRROCUMULUS CLOUDS

•Description:

Cirrocumulus clouds are small, high-altitude

clouds that appear as a series of white, rounded
patches.

•Characteristics:

~Altitude: Found at very high altitudes, above

20,000 feet.
~Appearance: Composed of tiny cloudlets,
resembling fish scales or grains of sand.
~Weather: Cirrocumulus clouds are often
associated with fair weather conditions
CLOUDLESS SKIES

•Description:

Cloudless skies refer to the absence of clouds,

resulting in a clear, blue sky.

•Characteristics:

~Weather: Cloudless skies are typically associated

with sunny and fair weather conditions.
~Visibility: With no clouds obstructing the view,
visibility is excellent.
STRATOCUMULUS CLOUDS

•Description:

Stratocumulus clouds are low-level clouds that

appear as a layer of gray or white clouds with a wavy
or lumpy texture.

•Characteristics:

~Altitude: Found at low altitudes, below 6,500 feet.

~Appearance: Stratocumulus clouds often cover the
entire sky, but they are not as thick as stratus clouds.
~Weather: Stratocumulus clouds can indicate the
approach of a warm front or a change in weather
conditions.
NIMBUS CLOUDS

•Description:

Nimbus clouds are dark, thick clouds that bring

precipitation, such as rain, snow, or hail.

•Characteristics:

~Appearance: Nimbus clouds are often dark gray

or black.
~Weather: Nimbus clouds are associated with
precipitation and can indicate the presence of a
storm.
CONCLUSION

Clouds are not only beautiful to look at but also play

a crucial role in the Earth's weather systems.
Understanding the different types of clouds can help
us predict weather patterns and appreciate the
wonders of the sky
