1. Find a point on the y -axis which is equidistant from the points A(6 ,5)
and B(−4 , 3).
2. Using the slope-intercept form, find the equation of a straight line with

3. Show that the points ( 2 , 4 ) , ( 7 , 9 ) , and (−1 , 1) are collinear. Hence find the

ratio in which the point (2 , 4) divides the line segment joining (7 , 9) and

(−1 , 1).

4. Show that ( 2 n ) !=2n . n ! { 1.3 .5 ⋯ ( 2 n−1 ) }.


5. Find the rank of the word LATE when its letters are arranged as in a

dictionary.

6. How many numbers lying between 3000 and 4000 can be formed with the digits
1 , 2, 3 , 4 ,5 and 6? (No repetition of digit is allowed)
7. How many odd numbers of 5 significant digits can be formed with the
digits 3 , 2 ,7 , 4 , 0 when no digit is repeated ?
8. In how many ways 3 boys and 5 girls can be arranged in a row so that all the three
boys are together?
9. How many 3 letter words with or without meaning can be formed out of
the letters of the word “SWING” when repetition of letters is not
allowed?
10. In how many ways 4 boys and 3 girls can be arranged in a row so that no two girls
come together?
11. In how many different ways can the letters of the word

FOOTBALL be arranged so that two O’s do not come together?

12. The perpendicular distance of the straight line 3 x+ 4 y + m=0 from the
origin is 2 unit; find m .
13. A straight line passes through the point (2 , 3) and is such that the sum of its intercepts
on the co-ordinate axes is 10. Find the equation of the straight line.
14. A straight line is perpendicular to the straight line 3 x−4 y=6 and passes through
(2 , 1). Find its equation.
15. Find the distance of the point (3 , 5) from the line 2 x+3 y =14 measured parallel to
the line x−2 y=1 .
