Name of Activity: Egg Shakers

Originating Idea: Children will be given egg shakers to shake along to the beat of the

music that is being played. Children will be able to explore the instrument itself as well

as feel the beat that they make on their own using the shakers.

Materials: Music, Egg Shakers

Appropriate Age group: infants or toddlers

Beginning of Activity

Teachers will model the expectations for children by shaking the egg shakers with the music

Middle of Activity

Early: Children will explore egg shakers

Middle: Children will try to mimic what their friends are doing, shaking their egg to make music

Later: Children will be able to shake their shakers close to the same beat as their teachers.

End of Activity

Transition will be to have the children shake their shakers all the way to the table and to place
their shakers in the bucket when they reach the table.
