Tutor’s Road Map Remember to apply the M.A.P. Method for departure, journey and destination activities. Click on the GPS to refer to the method. Departure Dialogue Read the dialogue out loud. Put emphasis on: BE in the normal and the contraction form: She is/ she's, we are /we're ING Negatives: I am not/ I’m not, he is not, he’s not, he isn’t, they are not, they’re not, they aren’t Questions: inverse subject and BE so that BE is before the subject: Is she driving home now?, Are they applying for a job? eee Act out the dialogue with your tutee. Implicitly perfect some grammar notions. Itinerary Activity 1: Distractions- Click on the sound icons and describe the noises that are distracting you. Emphasize complete sentences and the use of keywords. ex. Right now, a clock is ticking, At the moment, a truck is driving in reverse. Activity 2: Are the Students Procrastinating?- In this card game, the tutee describes what the students are doing, not doing ( X) or ask the question (?) to your partner? ex. They are drinking water. He is not putting paper into the recycling bin. Is she drinking her third coffee? You do not have to model each card, only once for each sentence structure. Adapt to your tutee’s need. Emphasize complete sentences and the use of keywords Destination Activity 3: Mindfulness- Listen to the audio description of someone visualizing and describing a peacefull place and what she is seeing and feeling at the moment. Then help your tutee to describe what is going on in the other images of peaceful places. Focus on accuracy in pronunciation, affirmative and negative structure. Ask guided questions if your tutee is having difficulty: How are you feeling right now? What’s going on in the forest? Are you relaxing? You may go beyond the proposed image and engage in a natural conversation. Use present progressive / continuous to describe an action that is going on at the moment. Emphasize accuracy by making sure your tutee uses complete sentences that include BE and the verb with ING.
