TIC-TAC-TOE Board Game

(Manipulative)
School Year 2022 – 2023

Tic-Tac-Toe is a game in which two players seek in alternate turns to complete a row, a column or a diagonal with either three
O’s or three X’s drawn in the spaces of a grid of nine squares.

Incorporating gamified learning in the lesson “Undefined Terms: Point, Line and Plane”, the game Tic-Tac-Toe is utilized as
an activity or game to let the learners have fun while understanding the concepts of the different undefined terms. This board
game simply needs a piece of paper (I used vellum 8.5” x 11” paper) and two-colored papers to distinguish the color of circles
of the two players.

In a piece of paper, draw a grid of 3 squares by 3 squares shown in the illustration below (this board serves as the PLANE):

(Point, Line & Plane)

Make two sets of 9 circles with different color each set (these circles
serve as the POINTS):

Mechanics of the game:

1. Two players will compete.


2. The game will be played on a grid of 3 squares by 3 squares (PLANE).
3. You choose a cutout-colored dots (POINTS).
4. Have the first player to go first by putting his/her dot on his/her desired square on the plane.
5. Have the second player go second by putting his/her dot on his/her desired square on the plane.
6. Keep alternating moves until one of the players has formed a row, column or diagonal (LINES) of three same colors or until
no one can win. (refer to the diagram below for the winning patterns)
7. Block the way of your opponent and aim to put your dots on a LINE.
8. The first who can make three consecutive points in a line wins the game.
Note: One player must win three times (not necessary consecutively) to be declared the winner.

SCORING SYSTEM:
The player that first wins three games will be given EXP points (experience points) of 20 and the player that loses the game
will be given a consolation EXP points of 10.
