Case Synthesis is the process a counsel use to predict the legal outcome for a particular
current situation. It is a crucial foundational skill of legal writing and legal analysis that will help
geologists in their careers handling certain violations.

INSTRUCTIONS: Choose a topic below and research atleast 5 criminal, administrative, or civil
cases related to the topic. Analyze how each proceedings were conducted especially the
court’s ruling and the specific laws being used. CREATE a case synthesis of the topic chosen
highlighting the questions asked below. Include your professional input to the court’s ruling, its
implication in the implementation of Philippine laws, and your own defense. Minimum of 500
words. Include the references. This is worth 100 pts.

TOPIC:
1. Ecological Solid Waste Management, Water pollution, or Air pollution
2. Environmental degradation of a Project or to a Protected area
3. Disaster related to drastic climate change
4. Violation to caves or karst topography

Questions to Answer:
1. What was the violations committed by the accused in the case? What particular law/s
were violated? What are the penalties to such violations? Was the court’s ruling aligned
with the penalties to the violations?
2. What other laws could be applied to the proceedings, both local and international?
What particular ruling could be generally applied to all the cases?
3. Was the ruling justified based on the effects to the plaintiff? What would be your own
ruling if you are the judge?
4. How was the law implemented in all 5 cases? Is the verdict justified?
