Ques : In 1939 , Subhas Chandra Bose formed the Forward Bloc. In this
context describe :
• Aims and Objectives of the Forward Bloc
• Subhas Chandra Bose formed a new party known as the
Forward Bloc in May 1939.
• The immediate objective of the Forward Bloc was the
liberation of India from the British rule with the support of
workers, peasants, youth, other organisations and even
foreign support.
After attaining India's Independence, the Forward Bloc aimed at
establishing Socialist State in India through the following
measures.
• Reorganisation of agriculture and industry on socialist lines.
• Abolition of Zamindari system
• Introduction of a new monetary and Credit system.

Ques: With reference to the Indian National Army (INA) , answer


the following:
a) Define INA and it’s objective.
• The Indian National Army (INA) or Azad Hind Fauj was
an armed force formed by an Indian nationalists on 1st
September 1942 in Southeast Asia during the World
War II.
• It became the military arm of Indian Independence
League.
• The aim of INA was to overthrow the British Raj in
colonial India, with Japanese assistance.
• It consist of 45000 Indian prisoners of War (POW)
captured by japan in Malayan and Singapore campaign.

b) Contribution of Subhas Chandra Bose


• Subhas Chandra Bose was a true revolutionary. He had
no faith in slow methods of political agitation and
looked upon Gandhian methods as impractical.
• He was a man of action and believed in revolutionary
methods for the attainment of Swaraj.
• He resigned from the Presidentship of the Congress in
1939 and formed a new party, Forward Bloc, which
stood for complete political and economic liberation of
Indian people.
• In 1943 he took over the Indian National Army (INA)
as the Supreme Commander.
• Subhas Chandra Bose gave a call to his soldiers “Give
me Blood and I shall get you freedom”. His battle cries
were “Delhi Chalo” & “Jai Hind”.
• He set an inspiring example of patriotism among
Indians.
