1. Define process writing approach. Give a one sentence explanation

Process writing is an approach to writing, where language learners focus on the process by
which they produce their written products rather than on the products themselves.

2. Explain each of the stages of Process writing

Pre-writing

In this stage, learners are asked to come up with ideas and plan what they are going to write.
This stage might include: Brainstorming ideas; Planning; Organising; Selecting ideas.

Learners can - and should - work collaboratively during this stage. They can use techniques
such as creating lists, mind maps and charts in order to brainstorm and select the ideas they'd like to
include in their texts. This can be done in or outside the classroom - using ed tech tools such as Padlet
and Edmodo might enable the teacher to set collaborative work while students are at home.

Writing

In this stage, learners can compose the first draft of their texts. As students will be given the
chance to revise and edit their texts later, accuracy of language, punctuation and vocabulary is not
essential at this point. Composing the text can be done individually or collaboratively - learners can be
given the chance to choose, according to their preference.

Revising

This is when learners have the opportunity to look back at their texts and reorganise ideas, add,
change or remove sentences and adapt their choice of words to make sure the ideas are being
conveyed clearly. Feedback has an essential role in this stage. It can be provided by the teacher or by
peers: learners can exchange drafts and comment on each other's work.

After revising, students write another draft - that means they go back to the "writing" stage. This is an
essential part of process writing: allowing learners to write different drafts as focus on the process,
rather than in the final result.

Editing

After writing several drafts, it is time to proofread, check grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Again, encouraging peer help and getting students to read each other's work might be useful.

3. Give the significance of one’s knowledge in grammar in the application of the writing
process.
 Grammar does play a vital role in writing. Proper grammar is necessary for credibility,
readability, communication, and clarity. Mastering grammar will allow you as a writer to make your
work clearer and more readable; you will also have the freedom of making stylistic choice

4. Text graphics include the following: Spelling, capitalization and the use of punctuation in
writing. How do these give impact to one’s writing efficacy?

Text graphics are becoming a popular trend especially in blogging nowadays, because they can
add an extra layer of engagement and help tell the story that is behind the post. They can make you
more creative, convey complex messages in ways that are easy to understand and help you get your
point across with an immediacy that is hard to find in other formats.

5. Based on your experience as a Language teacher, how is grammar best taught to learners

As a language teacher, I follow the following practices as much as I can in my class in order
to develop my students grammar skills:

a. Teach grammar with authentic writing.

b. Focus on usage over terminology.
c. Teach and assess one skill at a time.
d. Scaffold learning through practice and application.
e. Engage with high-interest mentor texts.
f. Model concepts.
g. Emphasize sentence combining.
h. Reinforce and reflect on concepts.
