Exercise 1 PMIC (PM Initiation and Collection)

The Performance Management Initiation and Collection (PMIC) application

provides the functionality to manage PM recordings on the NEs.

The purpose of this exercise is to introduce the PMIC GUI and to explain how to
initiate, schedule and monitor recordings on statistical counters of MSS nodes.

1.1 Exercise 1-1: PM Subscription for MRS

This exercise will instruct you in how to:

 initiate a PM scanner using the PMIC application in ENM.

Follow the step described in the figures below to accomplish this task.

Launch the PMIC GUI.

Exercise 3-3: STS Object Types, Reports and Measurement Programs

– Initiating mode
For Initianting mode, first the destination set has to be created in CDH (Common
Destination Handling). Use appropriated MO and defines the destination with the
transfer type FTPV2. This example creates a communication transfer channel consisting
of an initiating destination.

In order to transfer data to this destination (import/export area) A destination set needs
to be defined. The destination set is a group of destinations to provide a secure and
redundant data transfer. Even if we only will use one destination in our destination set, it
still needs to be defined. In this example, this transfer queue will be used in the next
exercise, so, it is going to be possible to see file transferred to the remote server.

The instructor will provide the students with an remote FTP-server that can be used for
this exercise:

IP address: …………………………………………………………

User name: …………………………………………………………

Password: ……………………………………………………….…

1. Create Destinations

Reach MO:
>configure
ManagedElement=<Node Name>, SystemFunctions=1, AxeFunctions=1,
DataOutputHandling=1, DataTransferM=1, FileTransferManager=1
(config-FileTransferManager=1)>InitiatingDestinationSet=IDESTSETX

(config-InitiatingDestinationSet= IDESTSETX)>
PrimaryInitiatingDestination=IPRIDESTSETX
ipAddress =ipaddress_of_remote_destination
transferProtocol=SFTPV2
username=loginname_of_remote_destination
password=password_of_remote_destination cleartext
portNumber=22
remoteFolderPath=temp
up
(config-
InitiatingDestinationSet=IDESTSETX)>AdvancedInitiatingParameters=ADVINITDESTX

(config-AdvancedInitiatingParameters=ADVINITDESTX)>validate
(config-AdvancedInitiatingParameters=ADVINITDESTX)>commit -s
(config-AdvancedInitiatingParameters=ADVINITDESTX)>up
(config-InitiatingDestinationSet=IDESTSETX>PrimaryInitiatingDestination= IPRIDESTSETX
(config-PrimaryInitiatingDestination=IPRIDESTSETX)>

2. Check that the status of the destination defined is True with the command

(config-PrimaryInitiatingDestination=IPRIDESTSETX)>connectionVerify
Result:true

3. Now when the destination (set) has been defined the transfer queue itself shall be
defined. Define a Transfer Queue that is linked to the destination set previously defined.

(config-PrimaryInitiatingDestination=IPRIDESTSETX)>up
(config-InitiatingDestinationSet= IDESTSETX)>up
(config-FileTransferManager=1)>FileTransferQueue=INITRANSQX

Define OT, Report, and MP

1. Check the status of the LOAS object type. If the status is NO, change to YES using
management information model.

stmotls –l LOAS

>configure
>ManagedElement=<node name>, SystemFunctions=1, AxeFunctions=1,
DataOutputHandling=1,StatisticalCounterM=1,ObjectTypes=1
>ObjectType=LOAS
>isIncluded=true

2. Define the report. Use the following command:

>configure
ManagedElement=1,SystemFunctions=1,AxeFunctions=1,DataOutputHandling=1,
StatisticalCounterM=1,Reports=1
>Report=202X
>name=REPORT1X
>objectTypeList=LOAS
>commit

3. Define Measurement Programs:

For this task, check the time in APG, use command “date”.

configure
ManagedElement=1,SystemFunctions=1,AxeFunctions=1,DataOutputHandling=1,
StatisticalCounterM=1,MeasurementPrograms=1

MeasurementProgram=102X
