Dear Student

Targeted Examination Support – for Special Summatives (Faculty of Commerce),

January – February 2024

As per section 27.2 Special Summatives of IIE009 Assessment Strategy and Policy:

(1) Special summatives are for undergraduate students who have only two modules
outstanding preventing them from graduating.
(2) They are an additional assessment opportunity if the student has not been successful in
the first two attempts at the summative or for students who did not achieve CASS in
that module in their last attempt.
(3) All special assessments take place in the third sitting.
(4) An application for a special assessment must be lodged by the student on the Student
Hub.

IIERC would like to offer you additional optional examination support sessions for certain
modules at no cost, in preparation for the examination opportunity. The initiative is
designed to give you every chance of passing these assessments so that you don’t have to
repeat these modules in 2024 and thus be able to graduate this year.

We have used key selection criteria to identify the modules for which this additional
support will be provided. A list of modules that meet the criteria is included at the bottom
of this communication. You can choose one or more module sessions that are offered.

How it works:
The content will be delivered online via RCLearn only. The examination support consists
of four hours of focused support sessions intended to prepare you for the upcoming
summative assessments. The four hours will usually be timetabled as two sessions lasting
two hours each.

You will have access to a timetable that identifies the days and times of these sessions.
The timetable will be available in the RCLearn organisation. The sessions will run over a
one or two-week period. The dates, days and times will be specified on the timetable.
Please note that the RCLearn organisation is a supplement to the RCLearn modules that
you have access to already.
Your role:
1. Check that you have access to the RCLearn organisation. Make sure you are logged in to
RCLearn then follow this link:

contained in the module.
