TOPIC: UNDERSTANDING THE FEAR OF THE LORD

TEXT: PROVERBS 19:23

INTRODUCTION
It has been confirmed that the Fear of the Lord is a major preservative of life
and destiny. People in Scripture who walked by the Fear of the Lord lived
lives that were preserved and protected by the Lord. The Fear of the Lord
prolongs life but absence of the fear of the Lord cuts life short (John 12:5-6;
Matt. 27:3-8).
In our study today, we shall look at understanding the Fear of the Lord.

B. Understanding the Fear of the Lord

1. The fear of the Lord is the maintenance of clean hands (Ps. 24:3-6)
Clean hands are hands that are free from corrupt resources. What God
cannot give you, you don’t need; where God cannot take you, you don’t need
to go there; what God cannot do for you, let it remain undone.

2. The fear of the Lord is the maintenance of a pure heart (Ps. 24:4)
A pure heart is a heart that is free from wickedness and bitterness. Where
the fear of the Lord is absent, that person’s future is not guaranteed

3. The fear of the Lord is freedom from falsehood and deceit (Ps. 24:4)
There are people who are consistently inconsistent. There can be no life
where there is no Truth (John 14:6)

C. COUNSEL
1. Make up your mind to depart from unrighteousness.

D. FOOD FOR THOUGHT

There can be no life where there is no Truth

E. PRACTICAL APPLICATION
Make up your mind to fear the LORD and live in righteousness.
