Petrol Engine
GLS 450 4MATIC
The M256M engine, which has been improved in terms of power and torque,
combines superior performance with the pleasant running smoothness of an
in-line 6-cylinder petrol engine. The electric additional compressor delivers
high torque even at low speeds and the mild hybrid concept with integrated
starter generator (ISG) provides additional boost and can help save fuel at
the same time.
• Highly efficient direct injection system with 350 bar injection hydraulics
for optimized fuel consumption and low raw emissions
• Bridges the time until the large exhaust gas turbocharger kicks in
powerfully and creates an impressive starting experience without any
turbo lag
• Electric additional compressor brings even more boost pressure and thus
additional torque just above idle speed
• Twin-scroll turbocharger with air-water intercooling and dual-flow
exhaust system - the channels of each three cylinders are separated from
each other and only converge directly in front of the turbine
• Dethrottles the exhaust system, the engine reacts more directly to
accelerator pedal commands and briefly generates up to 40 Nm of
additional torque, for example for overtaking maneuvers
• NANOSLIDE ® cylinder liners like Mercedes-Benz in Formula 1 – reliable

Diesel Engine
GLS 450 d 4MATIC
The most powerful diesel engine in the history of Mercedes-Benz is receiving

an update of its innovative technology components. The engine continues
to set a benchmark in terms of driving dynamics and fuel consumption.
More than an additional bonus: the six-cylinder in-line engine runs with
unsurpassed refinement.
• The integrated starter generator (ISG), a 2nd generation mild hybrid,
supports the combustion engine with up to 17 kW of additional power and
205 Nm torque, supplying the refrigerant compressor during stop phases,
reducing system weight and increasing robustness.
• High-tech steel piston: lower thermal expansion and therefore friction
compared to aluminum, at the same time even lighter and stronger
• NANOSLIDE ® cylinder liners like Mercedes-Benz in Formula 1 – reliable
lubrication, reduced friction and highly wear-resistant thanks to hard
running surfaces with the finest pores for oil absorption
• Water-cooled charger housing and air-water intercooler – for more power
and even more agile response
• Common rail direct injection with piezo injectors and a very high injection
pressure of up to 2,700 bar - atomizes the fuel particularly finely and
reduces soot formation and noise and improves engine warm-up
• Steel pistons with shaker cooling for a cooling effect through sodium-
filled bores. In addition, cooling takes place via an annular cooling

AIRMATIC Package
In the AIRMATIC package, an adaptive damping system meets
modern air suspension. The result: an intelligent comfort chassis
that can automatically adapt to the driving situation, speed and
load. This means you benefit from balanced driving stability with
first-class comfort.
Adaptive damping system: The adaptive damping system reacts
sensitively to unevenness. It is adjusted separately for each
wheel and forms the basis for comfortable and relaxed travel.
Level control: The all-round level control in the DYNAMIC
SELECT driving programs allows automatic lowering at higher
speeds, improving driving stability and reducing wind resistance,
while the load detection system ensures constant suspension
level.
Lowering the rear: Lowering the rear makes it easier for you to
load and unload heavy or bulky objects. The control element is
located directly in the boot.
Car wash function: The car wash function is activated through
the media display menu, preparing the vehicle for entry by
deactivating the rain sensor, closing side windows and sunroof,
folding exterior mirrors, raising the body, and switching to
recirculation air conditioning.

The MULTIBEAM LED offers intelligent light modes, including extended fog, cornering, country
road, city, bad weather, and motorway lights. It also features an adaptive high beam assistant plus,

beam, improving visibility during cornering and enabling off-road driving. The system also features
