FUNCTIONAL CRITERIA
1. What kind of pupils was the textbook published for?
2. Does the textbook correspond with the main requirements of the national (international) standard?
3. Does the textbook assist the process of formation intercultural-communicative competence?
4. Does the textbook correspond with the main requirements of the curriculum?
5. Does the textbook correspond with the main principles of forming communicative skills habits?
6. How do the textbook components interrelate?
STRUCTURAL CRITERIA
1. With the help of which didactic and methodological principles is the educational process in a textbook
structured?
2. In what progression are the aims achieved?
3. How is the language and speech material presented?
 Are the authentic or studying texts used in a textbook? Do the texts assist the process of formation
intercultural-communicative competence?
 How do the types and kinds of exercises correlate? Is there an optimal balance of language and
speech practice? Does the textbook promote various types of work (individual, group, pair)?
 What approach has been used to present grammar? What principle is realized in presenting
grammar material (systematic, comparative, pragmatic)?
 What approach has been used to present vocabulary? What ways of semantization have been
used?
 How is the socio-cultural aspect presented in the textbook?
 How can the lessons be organized? Does the textbook present an opportunity to plan the lessons in
an alternative way?
