Boxer Keneth Egano Passes away days after winning via unanimous decision

Imus Cavite – 22-year- old Filipino rising boxer Kenneth Egano died Wednesday after a
coma battle due to brain hemorrhage he suffered from his last battle against Jason Facularin,
moments away from being formally declared winner via unanimous decision.

The bantomweight saranggani boxer was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital after
he collapsed on his side during the eight-round battle against Facularin.

Coach Dexter Benatero stated that the boxer was completely healthy before the said fight,
and had a complete medical procedure before entering the ring.

“Before entering the ring, there was a doctor who examined him, and there was nothing
wrong with his medical condition. The fighter was in fantastic shape as he competed from the
first to the eighth round. He went back to our corner, which was the blue one because we were
the team, and when he did, he said, "Coach, I think I'm getting dizzy,” he said.

Meanwhile Anabella Egano, Egano’s mother was still in disbelief by the sudden
occurrence.

“Hanggang ngayon, hindi ko pa matanggap na patay ang anak ko. Sabi ko 'Bakit si
Kenneth pa? Mabait naman 'yung anak ko. Pero paano, wala akong magawa kasi noong umalis
sila ng GenSan buhay pa. Pagbalik niya bukas doon, bangkay na," she said.

Former Senator Manny Pacquiao shouldered Egano’s hospital expenses. The boxer’s
body was then brought to his hometown of Sarangani. Kenneth Egano’s promising career,
marked by undeniable talent and unwavering determination, was tragically cut short.
