SCRIPT

SCENE ONE

Narrator: Man-man began preaching at the corner of Miguel Street under the awning of Mary’s shop. He
did this every Sunday night. He let his beard grow and he dressed in a long white robe. He got a bible and

Narrator: He used to hold the Bible in his right hand and slap it with his left and say…

Man-man: I have been talking to God these few days, and what he told me about you people wasn't nice to
hear. Last night, just after I finish eating? God said, “Man-man, come and have a look at these people”
He show me husband eating wife and wife eating husband. He show me brother eating sister and sister
eating brother! Brethren… It not too late now to turn to God

*Man-man simultaneously collecting collection from crowd*

SCENE TWO

Hat: You ent hear the latest?

Edward: What?

Hat: Is about man-man. He say he going to be crucified just now

Edward: Nobody go touch him. Everybody fraid he now

Hat: Noo he going to crucify he-self. He going by Blue Basin and tie he-self to a cross and let people stone
him

Edward: Hm, well we go see

SCENE THREE
Narrator: When man-man appeared, looking very thin and very holy, women cried and rushed to touch his
gown. The police stood by, prepared to handle anything.

*Man tries to give cross to man-man*

Narrator: A man attempted giving the cross to man-man but he stopped them

Man-man: Not here. Leave that for Blue Basin.

*AT BLUE BASIN*

Narrator: Some men put up the cross and tied man-man to it

Man-man: Stone me brethren!

*Women weeping and flinging bits of gravel and sand at man-man’s feet*

Man-man: Father forgive them, they aint know what they doing

Stone, stone, stone me brethren! I forgive you!

*People throwing big stones at man-man’s face/chest*

Man-man: (looking hurt and surprised) What the hell is this? Get me down from here!

I go square with that son of a bitch who pelt me so hard!

*People still stoning man-man*

Man-man: Cut this arseness out! I done! You hear me! Take me down right now! I will kill all of you!

Police man: Alright, alright relax now.
