Introduction to portfolio
What is health?
Health is a state of complete physical,
mental and social well-being and not merely
the absence of disease or infirmity.

How can health be maintained?


Steps you can take:
Healthy movement may include walking,
sports, dancing, yoga, running or other
activities you enjoy. Eat a well-balanced,
low-fat diet with lots of fruits, vegetables
and whole grains. Choose a diet that's low
in saturated fat and cholesterol, and
moderate in sugar, salt and total fat.
Why being healthy is necessary?
Keeping healthy is a key part of your life. It
is important to stay healthy because it will
free you of health issues later down the
line. Keeping healthy will also help you
keep free of chronic diseases, like heart
disease and cancer.

What are lifestyle diseases?


Lifestyle diseases characterize those
diseases whose occurrence is primarily
based on the daily habits of people and are
a result of an inappropriate relationship of
people with their environment.
What lifestyle diseases affect the
population of T&T?(diet)
Trinidad and Tobago, like many countries
around the world, is facing a growing
burden of noncommunicable diseases such
as heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes
and chronic lung disease. These chronic
conditions account for over 62% of deaths,
each year, with three quarters occurring in
people under 70.

What are the causes of lifestyle diseases


in relation to diet?
Dome causes of lifestyle diseases are:
●Being overweight.
●Drinking soda.
●Excessive consumption of sugar and
processed food and foods having simple
carbohydrates.
●Following a sedentary lifestyle.
●Consuming artificial sweeteners (sugar-
free foods)
●Genetics or having family members with
diabetes.

What strategies that can be used to


counteract dietary lifestyle diseases?
Primary targets for reducing lifestyle
diseases include changing the fat
composition of the diet, limiting sodium
intake, and engaging in regular physical
activity.
Personal Solution
blueberry banana smoothie-This
smoothie is used to help with obesity.I
chose this drink because it is of high quality
to help persons with obesity to lose
weight.It includes blueberries,banans,chia
seeds and more.
Health benefits-There are some grea
benefits to drinking this smoothie.Not only
are blueberries a great superfood full of
nutrients that help support immune
function,but they also include improving
memory and protecting DNA from
damage.Bananas are high in potassium
which makes them a great food to have
when working out.The chia seeds are a
powerful source of antioxidants as well as
lots of essential vitamins and minerals.
