Duty station – Dialysis Unit

MQR

Work: No experience needed

Education: High school diploma or GED;

Supervised by licensed nurses on duty, report to the unit manager, or has obtained partial units from
any medical courses from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement
may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

• Reposition and assist in ambulation.


• Transports patients. Feeds or assist in feeding, serves drinking water and nourishments, and
records patients’ intake and output.
• Assists in maintaining the cleanliness and serviceability of unit facilities and equipment;
• Answers patient calls and refer their needs for assistance to the appropriate person. Assist
patients in making telephone calls; stores and retrieves valuables at time of admission and
discharge.
• Assist the nurse in making arrangements for patient transfer to other unit or discharge;
schedules tests and arranges transportation or escort of patient to and from appointments;
picks up mail, radiology and lab reports
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Provide assistive care to:

• Non-ambulatory dialysis patients

• Dialysis patients with impaired cognitive functions and special needs

• Any dialysis patients needing assistance with preparing dialysis chair and other basic needs
while patients are receiving treatment

• Answer phone calls

Assist Dialysis Nurses in Technicians in the following critical tasks:

• Disinfection of dialysis equipment, machines, and stations

• Monitor and stock medical supplies as needed

• Prepare the dialysis station

• Collect basic vital signs such as weights and patient temperature


• Transferring of patients from wheelchairs to the dialysis chairs

• Other non-technical responsibilities as assigned
