CRO PUREE RECIPE BOOK IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Before using these recipes it is important to know that for very first foods it is recommended to introduce one food at a time. Start with single vegetable purees. Once your child has had both ingredients separately, then you can use these recipes to combine ingredients. Y TINYHEARTS.COM PUMPKIN CARROT < : & RED LENTILS wef PUREE © Red or yellow lentils are best for baby as they are more gentle on the gut, are high in fibre and when blended they have a very smooth texture. INGREDIENTS METHOD. 1 tablespoon of olive oil or butter 1. Soak lentils in water for 10 minutes, 50g of dried lentils, soaked and rinsed ne ninnESs 150g of pumpkin . Peel and chop pumpkin and carrot into 180g carrot large chunks. SPICE VARIATIONS (If using spices). Bring to the boil and simmer for 15-20. minutes, until vegetables and lentils are very soft. . Don’t drain the water and allow to cool. BIN UENeCO LU) APPLE & PEAR PUREE This is a good recipe to have in your repertoire as it can be helpful to combat any baby constipation. This Apple and Pear puree can also be mixed with other meats and vegetable purees to add sweetness. INGREDIENTS, * 4.apples, any type (red apples are generally sweeter than green) © 4 Packham pears METHOD 4. Remove apple and pear cores, peel skin off and chop into big chunks. . Place apple and pear chunks in a pot and cover with water, just so fruit is only just submerged. Bring to the boil and let simmer until the fruit falls apart. Drain off most of the water. . Let the cooked fruit cool in the pot. . Transfer to a mixing bowl and with a stick blender, pulse and blend until a smooth puree texture is reached. If using a regular benchtop blender, spoon all the cooked but cooled fruit into the blender, cover with lid and blend. Serve immediately to baby or spoon into freezable ice cube trays and freeze. MIX IT UP! Add spices such as cinnamon or ground ginger, nutmeg etc at Step 2 to make variations of tastes and flavours. NS BCU BROCOLLI & PEA PUREE For an iron packed green vegetable puree, mix fresh broccoli florets with cooked green peas and a hint of mint. INGREDIENTS, * thead of fresh broccoli ‘© 2 cups of fresh shelled or frozen peas © tablespoon of olive oil or butter © 4mint leaves METHOD 4. Roughly chop one head of broccoli into large florets . Place broccoli into a large pot and cover with water and bring to the boil, let broccoli simmer for about 6 minutes or until the florets are very soft. . Add two cups of frozen or fresh peas. Continue to simmer for further 3 minutes. . Drain off most of the water. . Add 4 mint leaves and oil or butter. . Once drained and cooled, spoon the broccoli, peas and mint into a bowl if using a stick blender, or straight into your benchtop blender, cover with lid. Blend until smooth puree consistency is reached. Serve immediately to baby or spoon into freezable ice cube trays and freeze. NS INC Kero MANGO & COCONUT PUREE This one is super easy as it doesn’t require any cooking. INGREDIENTS ‘© 1 cup of fresh or frozen mango © tvery ripe banana © % cup of coconut cream METHOD 4. Ifusing frozen mango pieces, thaw first. Fresh mango just needs to be peeled and chopped, . Place mango and banana straight into benchtop blender or food processor or a bowl if using a stick blender. . Add % cup of coconut cream. . Blend well until mango and cream have combined well. Be sure to test that the mango has been blended well and no fleshy strings remain. Serve immediately to baby or spoon into freezable ice cube trays and freeze. NS SINAC) BABY PORRIDGE Using whole rolled oats but blended, thisis an iron rich, high fibre whole grain puree for your baby. As they get older, more confident and skilful you can reduce the amount of blending to get a lumpier texture. INGREDIENTS 4.cup whole rolled oats 2-3 cups of water (or cows milk, breast milk or formula milk) 1 teaspoon chia seeds Pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon METHOD 1. Place oats, chia seeds, spices of choice and liquid (water, cows milk, breast milk or formula milk) into a pot. . Bring to a gentle boil, then turn down heat to simmer for 6 minutes. Stir regularly - You may need to add more water or milk. . Let cool until warm. . Using a stick blender or spoon into a blender or food processor, cover with lid and blend until smooth.
