There has been a controversy whether disease eradication should be claimed as the

top care of communities.. Personally, I partly agree with the importance of

eradication, but I believe this effort will have multiple consequences.

On the one hand, eliminating illnesses improve life qualities. In fact, it improves
human well-being and save lives. Moreover, once people succeed in wiping out the
danger of diseases, they will no longer need to spend money on preventing and
treating those infections, which allows future resources to be allocated elsewhere
more properly. For instance, in the past, malaria was a serious and contagious
disease, which even caused deaths. However, thanks to the advance medical
facilities and endless efforts of scientists, malaria now no longer be the nightmare
of humans.

On the other hand, pursuing eradication of disease also leads to negative impacts.
First of all, it increases the chances of drug addiction, including drug misuse and
abuse. By this I mean, once people have had absolute confidence in diseases
eradication, they tend to depend on medical treatments rather than following
healthy lifestyles. For example, since lung cancer was notified to be totally cured,
the smoking rates have increased rapidly. This comes from the wrong mindset of
the smokers that now matter how much tobacco they use, there are always
treatments for their health problems. Another problem is disease elimination can
result in healthcare inequalities. Indeed, when wiping out sicknesses be the priority
of the world, health workers will focus on saving people today and the people who
are not yet born from a particular disease. This, however, raising an imbalance
between allocating resources for future lives and taking care for those suffering
from other serious ailments that are not in the eradication plan.

All in all, although disease eradication has several positive impacts on the development
of the general health infrastructure, I still believe that the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages in terms
of medication overuse and healthcare injustice.
