Social System of Islam:


Introduction:
 Comprehensive social system
 Not only man-to-god relation but also man-to-man relations are covered
 Based on universal principle of equality of humanity
 Common parentage calls for social solidarity and mutual harmony
 Role of individual is not contradictory but complementary to social welfare

Fundamental principles:

 Collaboration of individual society and state ‫و تعاونو‬


 Value based society- all values stem for the basic doctrine of Tawheed
 Unity

Main characteristics:

 Structure of Islamic social life: Anyone who has no mercy on his juniors and no respect for his
seniors is not one of us muslims.
 Family; encouragement of marriage; prohibition of celibacy; roles and responsibilities of
husband and wife; Parents and relatives;neighbours
 General community
 International community
 Position of women

Political system of Islam:


Introduction:

 Islam takes an integrative approach to life
 Syed Abul Aala Maududi says that Islam has laid down the principles of Govt: ideological state,
rule of the shariah, not theocratic, consultation i.e shura persists, welfare state, responsible for
the moral and spiritual well-being of the people as well.

Basis of Islamic political system:

subservient to Allah

Fundamenntal principles of Islamic political system:

 Migrate from the abode of tyranny- like the migration to Abyssinia
 Enter into treaties with non-muslims for peace creation
 Non-muslims must be granted complete liberty

 Circulation of wealth-taxes and zakat
 No tax beyond capacity

 Open system; not a closed one.

Features of Islamic political system:

 Equality of all citizens (Iqbal- essence of tahid as a working idea is equality , freedom and
solidarity.)-hajj at ul wida
 Rule of law
 Foreign policy based on humane principles
 Obedience to ruler
 Order good and forbid wrong (hajj 41)
 Establishment of zakat
 Justice
 Co-existence
 Right of non-muslims protected

Economic Systems of Islam:
Introduction
 Economic fruits are the bounties of God, every creature has equal right to access them.
 All lawful earning activities are allowed and encouraged.
 Unlawful practices are severely admonished.

Fundamentals of Islamic Economic system:

 Golden mean between communism and capitalism.


 Individual given right to enterprise, but the moral system of Islam bounds him to be fair
in his activities and not obstruct the earning pathways of others.
 Obligation of lawful earning al Qasas 77 (Hadith; Next to prayers is the obligation of
earning a living)
 Natural resources to be used in a sustainable manner, kullo washrabu wala tusrifo
