For every point P on an ellipse, sum of focal distances, i.e. PS + PS’ = 2a


Ellipse is also defined as :
Locus of a point which moves such that sum of its distances from two
fixed points is constant.
The fixed points are its foci and the constant sum is the length of its
major axis.
