Grade 10 Celebration Speech

Miranda

First of all, good afternoon everybody, for those of you who don’t know me, I am
Miranda and I have been attending ISP since grade 6. Grade 10 has been full of
challenges for all of us. We all have struggled with the Personal Project, E-Portfolio,
Home Learning, and of course, with battles of our own. And although at some moments
we may have felt hopeless or may have wanted to give up, we were able to overcome
these obstacles and be resilient.

Resilience will be highly important for the upcoming years. Whether we continue with
the DP program or follow another curriculum, there will be times at which we will want
to give up. But we must remember that all the experiences we’ve had and all the hard
work we have put into in the past, will help us to be the best we can be in the future; and
to continue without succumbing to the many challenges the future still holds for us.

One of my favourite memories of this year was when the e-exams were cancelled.I like to
think of it as a reward for our hard work through the first semester of grade 10 . I also
like to think that our hard work and dedication will pay off eventually, and so we
mustn't give in now.

We must also remember that we are not alone. In the 4 years I have been part of the ISP
community, I have learned that whenever you struggle there will be someone there to
help you. Whether it’s a teacher, parent, or a friend, they will all support you in your
darkest moments. So although the future may look a bit uncertain right now, I am sure
we have nothing to worry about.

Our experiences have made us stronger. As Eleanor Roosevelt said, “you gain strength,
courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the
face”.We will be prepared for the following two years. And for those of us who are
leaving, we will take ISP’s philosophy with us no matter where we go.

Thank you.

Really nice Miranda - I particularly like the ending!

Could you add your best memory of Grade 10 for some humour/to lighten it in the
middle?
