Discussing with my co-presenter the grammatical analysis involving the different
kinds of grammatical tests such as reduction, expansion, substitution, insertion, omission, and permutation made me realize that there are various ways on how a writer or a speaker deliver his/her thoughts and ideas effectively. There are numerous ways on how to play with the words to make a composition clearer, and appealing to the listeners and or readers. But there are also considerations to take into account so that a certain statement would be understandable and grammatically accepted.
I have learned that bad or incorrect grammar sometimes could be a barrier to
understanding.
Teaching grammar especially to primary and secondary learners is crucial
because knowing how to use correct grammar would also harness and enhance understanding of a student in different disciplines and might create good opportunities and chances to the overall development of a child. This could also affect the development of a child’s self-esteem and confidence and also strengthen his/her determination to try new things.
Grammar could alter meanings and could affect the interpretation of a
reader/listener. Through going through that discussion, I have added value and weigh of me being a prescriptivist teacher, especially if it is neede.
