Figure 1 shows the Block Diagram of the device. The main


component was the microcontroller unit, Arduino Nano with
an inbuilt Atmega328 which served as the main control for the
system.
Next components were the gesture – based sensors that
were fitted with a glove: flex sensors and gyroscope and
accelerometer. These sensors were responsible for detecting

Table 1 shows the different calibration values of the five

V. CONCLUSION
The design of An Assistive Device for Hearing and Speech
Impaired Persons can be used as a medium for them to express
their thoughts, ideas, and messages on the people they
encounter on their everyday lives.
The researchers concluded that the device works
accordingly as it translates sign languages into readable texts
messages and recognizable voice audio with an overall
accuracy of 83.58% in terms of recognition.
