Ryan Beaver

Dear Will,

I have thought about what you said in the beginning of your story. How I would not want to
be your friend or want to be your friend. My name is Ryan and I want to be your friend. I
think that your story is inspiring. You are making a difference in your community. I know that
you have just lost your brother and I am so, so sorry. I would love to be your friend if you
would still let me.

At the end of your story your brother, Shawn, asks you two words: “You coming?” I know
that he was important to you. I also know that each person in that elevator from your past
had a message for you. For Buck, it was to explain what would happen had you killed Riggs.
For Dani it was to remind you that you still have people in your life that care about you. For
your Uncle Mark, it was to show you that you couldn’t and shouldn’t kill Riggs. For your dad,
it was to tell you that you might kill the wrong guy and take an innocent life. For Frick, it was
to show you the consequences of your actions had you killed Riggs. Think about each
message. I know it is a lot of loss for you and I want to be your friend and to help you. Think
about it.

Finally, here’s some advice. Follow your heart. Listen to your ghosts. Don’t change yourself
just to fit in with the crowd. Your mom loves you. She needs someone to take care of her.
You are kind, Will. Even if all of your family members are dead, continue to love people and
help people. In the end, I think that you will find that nourishing life and creating new life is
a lot better than ending life and killing someone.
