Respondent: Angelika Ingosan

1) Do you know about Genetic Engineering?

Respondent Answers:
- Yes

2) What do you know about Genetic Engineering?

Respondent Answers:
- Altering genes in a laboratory to improve and develop the already
standard organism.

3) What do you think of the positive and negative effects of

engineering?

Respondent Answers:
- For positive effects, genetic engineering can help increase the
supply of products such as crops, as it can make them grow faster.
Also, this can increase the life span of these lab-grown products. It
also lessens the use of pesticides.

However, genetic engineering can also cause some cons to people,

health-wise, it can produce allergens in our food supply that can be
harmful to health. There is also a possibility for GMOs to negatively
affect human health. This could result from differences in nutritional
content, allergic response, or undesired side effects such as toxicity,
organ damage, or gene transfer. Additionally, it can also cause some
dangerous mutations in their subjects, if ever some things go wrong.

4) Do you think genetic engineering will affect you?

Respondent Answer:
- Maybe not.

5) What about your lifestyle?

Respondent Answer:
- I guess, it will affect me, mostly in the food that I intake.

6)Do you think that’s a good thing or a bad thing?

Respondent Answer:
- If done properly and intensively, it will become a good thing for us.
However, if it is done carelessly without precaution and disregard of
what the results could affect, it will be bad, maybe even worse.

7) Summary of Responses
Pros of Genetic Engineering (Advantages)
- It can help in our abundance in agriculture.
- Can help in the life expectancy of the organisms that resulted
from genetic engineering.
- Rise in our food supply with lower cost.
- Long shelf life for food.
- Medicinal foods that could be used as vaccines or other
medicines
- Faster growing of crops and animals.
Cons of Genetic Engineering (Disadvantages)
- They can produce toxins that would affect the health of other
organisms.
- It can cause cross-contamination, which is dangerous for the
environment.
- Other unknown dangers in the environment.
- Foods can become less nutritious.
