TESTMETHODS — PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 4.1 Test Methods for Physical Requirements are ASTM, ASTM with modifications specified in JOM J22, or JDM J22 Test Methods as indicated, 5. TEST METHODS — PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS a 5.1 WATER STABILITY 5.1.1 SCOPE, This test is conducted to determine the ability of the oil to adequately Perform when the hydrostatic system is subjected to heavy load conditions with and without water contamination 5.1.2 APPARATUS. A Sundstrand hydrostatic pump and motor which is powered | by an electric motor is used. The unit is run at constant load conditions utilizing a high pressure relief valve in the circuit. Several pressure and temperature readouts are re- quired. A flowmeter is required to monitor the flow characteristic, Periodic flow readings and oil samples are required at established intervals. Oil sample analysis includes water content in percent, TAN (Total Acid No.), atomic absorption, particle count and viscosity change (shear). Pre-test and post-test dimensional checks of various components are required. 5.1.3. TEST PROCEDURE. The hydrostatic system is set up to operate under constant load conditions monitoring the various parameters at established intervals. An initial 50 hour run without water is required with periodic sampling at 0, 5, 25 and 50 hours. Following inspection of parts and reassembly, a known quantity of water is added to the oil; an additional 200 hour run is required (following addition of water) with periodic sampling at 50, 55, 75, 100, 125, 200 and 250 total hours. 5.1.4 REPORT. Report the data taken at established intervals along with inspection results. Compare to the results with John Deere reference oil. Suppliers of John Deere private packaged oil shall send a one liter sample from each batch to Deere & Company Materials Research Department, Moline. linois 61265, USA, or other laboratories designated by them. All containers shall be identified by an approved code to permit identification of the material
