Dharmshala Cottage
Dharmshala Holiday Homes is equipped with all facilities. This Holiday Home can
accommodate maximum 6 people. Vehicle service is available from Chandigarh & back
to Chandigarh, meant for going to Dharmshala Holiday Home and sightseeing etc.
Lying in the shadow of mighty Dhauladhar range is the quaint town of Dharamshala.
Divided in two halves – Kotwali Bazar and the skirting markets make up Lower
Dharamshala, which makes a dramatic transition in the upper reaches that has thick
pine, cedar and Himalayan oak forests around the township of Mcleodganj. It is an 18
km gradual uphill drive from Kangra that gets you to Dharamshala. Mcleodganj serves
as the capital of the Tibetan Government in exile. With rising altitude, the summer
temperature between Lower and Upper Dharamshala changes from warm to cool climes.
It was in the wake of the Tibetan uprising of 1959 that His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
escaped from Lhasa. Choosing Mcleodganj for an abode in exile saw an influx of Tibetan
population that followed him into exile. Often referred to as ‘Little Lhasa’ the vivid
character of the city today attracts many famous people, including country heads,
filmmakers and diplomats to Mcleodganj, Dharamshala from all over the world. Colonial
influence, however, has its imprint intact in the town which can be spotted in many
buildings, a church and other landmarks of the era scattered around the town and its
suburbs.
Language: Hindi, Punjabi, English are understood and spoken by the people
engaged in tourism trade. Natives speak Kangri and Tibetan is spoken by the immigrant
Buddhist community.
Air:
Kangra airport at Gaggal is at a distance of 22 km from Dharamshala Holiday Home.
There are regular flights between Delhi and Kangra to this airport.
Rail:
The nearest broad gauge railway line to Dharamshala is at Pathankot which is then
connected by a 94 km narrow gauge line to Kangra.
Road:
Dharamshala is well connected by roads from all nearby cities. Both public and private
transport buses regularly ply between Dharamshala to Delhi, Chandigarh, Pathankot,
Kullu-Manali, Shimla and other destinations. Taxis for all places are readily available.

Dal Fair
With the Dal Lake filled to the brim with fresh monsoon rain water, the Dal fair in Upper
Dharamshala in August is a big draw. Natives, Tibetan settlers and tourists with many
foreigners among them, turn the gathering into a cosmopolitan crowd who can be seen
buying, selling, eating or simply merrymaking at the fair.
Visit to Mcleodganj
Dharamshala owes its charm and character to the allure spun by the Mcleodganj.
Dominated by the Tibetan community, the suburb at an elevation of 2,082 m is also
referred to as mini Lhasa. The main street of Mcleodganj is sprinkled with Tibetan craft
shops and amazing eateries serving fresh and savoury dishes cooked with a tinge of
Tibetan cooking flavours. Major section of the market is centered around the Tsuglag
Khang Temple, bestowing good wishes on residents and tourists.
Tea Gardens in Dharamshala
For those who visit the Bhagsunag Temple near Mcleodganj, an uphill walk to
Bhagsunag Falls is a good place to unwind. This natural waterfall draws pilgrims and
tourists to enjoy its sheer allure. The best time to be at the waterfall is in the rainy
season from July to September when the stream is in full flow.
Bhagsunag Temple
A relic of the British Raj, the St. John Church in the Wilderness was constructed in 1852
and is set in a forest at Forsythg Ganj. Built in the neo-Gothic architecture style, much
of the structure survived a devastating earthquake in 1905 which flattened most
building in Kangra valley. Within its compound lies buried Lord Elgin, a Viceroy from
1862-63. The church has some fine Belgian stained glass windows.
At Kotwali Bazar is the Kangra Art Museum, a treasure of art and history about Kangra
valley and Tibetan culture. On display are more than 1500 artefacts and crafts, some
dating back to the 5th century AD. It also has a fine collection of miniature paintings.

Visit to the War Memorial
Set amidst a beautiful pine forests with well laid out gardens at the gateway to
Dharamshala is the War Memorial that pays tribute to the known and unknown soldier
who have died in service of the nation.

Trip to Dharamkot
Uphill from Mcleodganj, the scenic views get wider with rising elevation. Dharamkot is
home to many foreigners and life in this small village is influenced by western lifestyles.
This village is also the base for a trek to Triund, a scenic pasture land higher up in the
mountain range.

For those who love the outdoors,
Dhauladhar is excellent trekking country.
To enjoying stunning views of the vast
Kangra valley a summer trek to Triund
(altitude 2875 meter), just below the
snowline is being up close to the
spectacular peaks of the ‘white ranges’.
Making way through thick oak and deodar
forests with scattered rhododendron
flowers in the path, this moderate trek
starts at about 10 km distance from
Mcleodganj. The last stretches of the trek
are demanding as you make your way up
the 22 gruelling curves to an open
camping ground. The walk down is an
easy run into the breeze.
Dal Lake
Dal Lake is 4 km from Mcleodganj, is a
quiet picnic spot. The area has a
deodar tree forest cover from all sides
and is marked by the Durveshwar
temple on one side. Its setting makes
for a pleasant afternoon escapade.
This beautiful lake is set amidst lush
green Deodar forests at an altitude of
1,775 metres and exudes
transcendence in peaceful
surroundings. Dal Lake is just a walk
away and also happens to be a major
attraction for trekkers as it serves as a
base camp for several trekking
expeditions. But if you don’t want to walk all the way, you can also go by car or taxi.
Kareri Lake
At 2934 meters altitude, this mountain
water body is a trekking destination in
the Dhauladhars. Source of the
shallow lakes water is snow melt. In
the deep blue crystal clear water you
can see the lakes bed at most places.
Kareri lake is at a distance of 24 km
from Dharamshala Holiday Home. It
also serves as a base for trekking
further into the Dhauladhars and
onward to Chamba.
BAIJNATH TEMPLE
Baijnath temple lies in a small town in
Dhauladhar Range and one of the most
religious pilgrimage site in Himachal
Pradesh. This one thousand year old
temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. A great
throng of pilgrims visit Baijnath temple
especially in Shivratri festival. There are
inscriptions on the wall interpreting the
story of Baijnath temple. It is believed
that Devil Ravana worshipped the lord
here. This temple is made of Nagri style
of architecture. After being dilapidated
because of an earthquake, it was renovated by Raja Sansar Chand.
PARAGLIDING IN BIR-BILLING
Bir is a village located in the west of Joginder Nagar Valley in the state of Himachal
Pradesh in northern India. Mostly referred as “Paragliding Capital of India”, Bir is also a
noted centre for ecotourism, spiritual studies and meditation. Bir is also home to a
Tibetan refugee settlement with several Buddhist monasteries and a large stupa. While
Billing is the takeoff site for paragliding and Bir village is for landing; collectively it is
known “Bir Billing”. Bir Billing is 68Kms from Gaggal, 50Kms from Dharamshala, 180
Kms from Manali, 200Kms from Shimla, 280 Kms from Chandigarh, 500 Kms from Delhi.
Palampur is a hill station in India’s northern state of Himachal Pradesh. It’s known for its
tea gardens like the Palampur Cooperative Tea Factory, which also processes the leaves.
A waterfall drops into a stream at Bundla Chasm. Saurabh Van Vihar nature park has
picnic spots, birdlife and views of the snow-capped Dhauladhar range. A forested trail
leads northeast to hilltop Birni Devi Temple, with mountain views.

enthusiastic for climbing and rappelling. There are two natural water pools in the
Campus, where guests can cool off the summer heat. The natural pools also have
beautiful waterfalls which have magnificent view with snow clad mountains in the

are points of attraction where people can sit and relax with their feet in natural clean

purchased directly by you or through cook / caretaker at your cost. For your
requirements of food on your arrival, please advise cook / caretaker at Telephone
Number mentioned on allotment letter.

No. of persons: The Bungalow & its facilities are equipped to comfortably
accommodate 6 Persons, including children.
Bookings will be done on first come first serve basis thru eCampus and
confirmation of booking will go through e-mail. Allotment letter can be printed
from eCampus and is required to handover to Caretaker at the time of check-in.
Usage of the Holiday Home is for L&T employees & their families. Caretaker has
been instructed to request the guest to produce identification on arrival.
In case concerned L&T employee is not accompanying the other guests, the
caretaker has been instructed not to permit check-in.
For cancellations, kindly cancel your booking 30 days in advance, so that Holiday
Home can be allotted to the next person on the waiting list.
