The Pond
One day the zookeeper
went to open the gate at
the zoo and he noticed
something on the steps.
A little matchbox with a
little note attached to it
 The note said
Please look after Helen. I
cant keep her any longer.
We are moving to a flat and
we not allowed to have pets!

Helen was a
spider
The Zookeeper tried to catch
Helen but she was too fast for
him!

She ran like lightning up a big

tree, spun a web and then
lowered herself down into a
building...

It was the Lion House

In the Lion House was a mommy and
her cubs. There were lots of flies.

They were buzzing around the lions’

ears and crawling on their noses.
The lions were cross with the flies.

Helen was not cross. She was so

happy to see the flies. She loved to
eat flies! Straight away Helen
began to spin another web. The
web was nice and sticky!
Helen then moved into
the Elephants House!
There were lots of
flies!
Then Helen moved
into the Zebra
House. Helen spun a
web and one by one
she caught them all
and ate those
pesky flies!
Helen went from one building
to another, eating all the
flies! Soon the zoo became so
peaceful and the animals
were so happy!

The zoo was a happy place

for a spider to live!
One morning the Zookeeper
blew his whistle and said the
Mayor is visiting and we need
to clean the cages they full
of spider webs!!
 The cages were scrubbed and
washed!

Poor Helen was so scared she ran

into a tiny crack into the wall of
the Camel House!
The mayor
arrived
Helen became hungry

THE FLIES BECAME TO BUZZ AGAIN!

HELEN WAS SO HUNGRY SHE CAME OUT OF HER

HIDING PLACE AND STARTED TO CATCH SOME FLIES!

HELEN STAYED IN THE CAMEL HOUSE AS SHE WAS

TOO SCARED TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE!

ALL THE ANIMALS WERE VERY UNHAPPY!

The Zookeeper wandered what was wrong! The
Zookeeper noticed a spider web in the Camels
House! That is why the camels were so happy!
Zookeeper blew his whistle and told everyone that
Joe was right. Spiders are good for the zoo!
